It's ridiculously expensive, it's not that powerful, it's too small for serious work, I don't really need it... isn't it f*cking sexy though? I want it. Should I get it?

Basically I'm concered about reliability and build quality - I have heard Vaios can be flimsy, and the hinges wear out, etc. Is that still the case these days? Even on the high end models? I wouldn't want to spend that kind of cash if it's not going to last me several years.

What about moving parts? Do the hard drives last? Is it passively cooled or does it have a fan?

Does anyone here actually own own of these? How are you finding it?

Any other similar options out there?

Nah, no dvd, no 3G internet.

What about the X61s? Can you get mobile internet on those? What about build quality in comparison? I mean, I know the Lenovo is going to be better, but how much better? Is the Sony actually *bad* quality or just not as good?

Yea I read that, I was just trying to get an idea of what if feels like from an actual owner, rather than the first impressions of a reviewer.

You can buy a tz from sonystyle.com

I thought about importing, but I'll probably get slapped with all kinds of tax if I do that. Besides that price is not very good.

I'll probably buy from a local site or go into central London and haggle for it with cash. Was considering doing that today actually - I took a big wad of 50s and went to actually hold/use the thing... I have to say it felt absolutely tiny... maybe too tiny... I didn't buy it yet...

I find it hard to believe that it has over 13hrs of battery life, unless it's a super big extended battery or 2 batteries bays.

I have heard between 5 and 6 hours with the standard battery, and about one working day with the larger one.

Its the ULV processor.

If it wasn't for the high res display, I'd say the Thinkpad X61s would be nicer. I've had the X60 before and it was pretty damn nice to work on. Very ergonomic keyboard and I love the trackpoint. Feels very sturdy. I usually toss it into my backpack, regular/not for laptops, and go. I've also stacked books and misc objects on it, squeezed it, tried to bend it (not attempt to break, but just to see if it will bend a little) and it doesn't really give in at all.

I really need 1280x1024 to be productive (for software development) and the more I can see, the better. The X60 was docked most of the time when in the office.

website says 13.5 hours on 9 cell.

LED, SSD, and ULV C2D, quite possible on a 9 cell in LP mode.

Battery Type

* Standard Capacity Lithium-ion Battery (VGP-BPL11)

Estimated Battery Life

* 4.5-9.0 hours8 (Standard Capacity Battery) 7.0-13.5 hours8 (Large Capacity Battery)

Power Requirements

* 68W+10%
