Vaccination cards: Do they accept a photocopy?

Mine's folded in my wallet, and if I'm ever asked for it, the person will be told to go fuck themselves. I'm not displaying documentation for random pissants that are under a delusion of having some kind of authority over me. Aside from that, it's trivially forged. It's the same kind of thinking that says a bag is required to leave a store with a purchase cause it indicates some kind of proof, and yes, that's an argument I've had when declining a bag.

Thankfully, we don't live in an area with overbearing COVID restrictions, so carrying your vaccination card isn't a requirement. I'd imagine that situations like what Muse is talking about might be an actual problem in places like LA and New York City.

I don't carry my vaccination card with me... hell, I usually don't even carry a mask with me anymore unless I'm going to a place that requires it.

Personally, my plan is to avoid places with overbearing COVID restrictions until they cut that shit out.

When I travelled to Hawaii, I uploaded a pdf copy of my CDC card. My wife had her vaccine through a hospital so it was even more jacked up....was just a piece of paper. Both had information about the vaccination dates, and lot numbers.... I also provided the address and phone number of the hospital and health department that administered the shot. Having the card only shows the information required to validate the card's authenticity.

If the card is required for entry into a restaurant or other establishment that has operational hours outside of 9-5, they are going to be hard-pressed to validate the authenticity of the card.

In the example of Hawaii, if they had reason to believe the data was fraudulent, they were actually reaching out to health departments and other entities and pressing charges if people were providing falsified documents. I'm not so sure private businesses would take it that far.

People are such snowflakes these days. Me showing a staff worker a picture on my phone and my license to go into a restaurant or bar or movie, has taken about 20 seconds each time. A couple times it added a minute due to being a few people ahead of me. And then I go in, no mask, enjoy the movie, eat food, drink Frosty beverages. So overbearing. That 20 seconds to 2 minutes.

It's like being in a work prison tough.

Mine is saved on a Note 20 Ultra 5G as a QR Code on the home screen, showing my name, date of birth,. number of doses, vaccine model , date and location of vaccination, lot number.
Actual card handed to me has "patient number". Just got a notication that a J&J booster shot will be available Nov 4th at a pharmacy nearby.

Causing a scene is simply being an asshole. If you don't like the rules the business has in place just walk away.
Some of the material suppliers I deal with simply don't care. They have all the rules posted, and they're universally ignored by their customers and employees.
States with mandates don't screw around with that stuff. All it takes is one phone call and *poof* they're paying a big fine or being shut down.

Not sure why they didn't make those cards smaller and more "wallet friendly". Seems like they would have been cheaper and a lot more convenient.

I got Pfizer back in April. Hoping to qualify for a booster soon, but I'm hearing you can basically go into any pharmacy, say "I work with old people," and you'll get it. Thinking I'll get the flu shot while I'm at it.

I'm in Ohio- we're not fancy enough yet to digitize medical cards. Looks like only a few states have that right now.

we have a downloadable qr-code PDF document from our Provincial government that people can use on their smart phone. If that is not possible you can simply print it out and show that.
I use the hard copy of the receipt showing both jabs.( have the QR code but can't be bothered carrying a phone just for this detail ) and attach a of copy my Drivers Licence which together constitute an Ontario passport. In my daily routine, the Good Life gym is the only place requiring the passport. No problem, as the copies fold nicely into my pocket.
The gym is too fastidious though as they require the Passport each time one enters, regardless whether they know the person or not. I'm there most days, greeted by the same staff, and the personnel insist on the passport each time.

Hello, Hello ! Its the same me who was here yesterday. Hello !

The controversy is that under the current regime, the employees (front desk, trainers, cleaners) do not need any vaccination while clients need both .

I didn't know you live in Ontario. Which city if you don't mind me asking?

Most people here carry a cell phone so it is easy to verify vaccine status.

Vaccine cards are fucking stupid. There needs to be a verifiable way to tell or the entire thing is a joke and waste of everyone's time. You would be better off just asking the people how they feel about the COVID vaccine, if they are a crazy anti-vaxxer they won't be able to help themselves from spouting off about it.

Hey how about a secure universal Government-certified smart-phone app to verify vaccination status?

😀

Oh wait that would make too much sense nevermind. 😕

I live In TO. Downtown. Way. Look out my apt. window and all you see is up.

Sure everyone has their phone in their face. I don't , I just gave up my BB 9800. I'm old school, or just old . Do my all computing on the desktop, use a phone (now a fancy iPhone) mostly for talk and text. I know, not a value proposition. The wife loves Facetime. Who knew ?

So I didn't want to daily lug this device around just for that one occasion . I carry two pieces of paper .

Like you say, the QR makes sense if you are carrying the "device" around anyway.

I am in London.

I bought a Google Pixel 3 XL to replace my old Samsung Galaxy S5. I find it easier to carry around when I am out as I tend to lose paper easily.

Ah. Mine is credit card sized.
Lucky you. Somebody in the UK has a mind.
Ours is a QR code you can show electronic or paper copy. The business scans it and your vaccine proof shows up.
Somebody in Canada has a mind.
I did finally break down and buy a wallet though. 😛 I used to never bother carrying one, I hate the bulkiness of having that in my pockets. Bought a Ridge wallet. Enough to carry my ID (which I used to always just leave in the truck) and debit/credit card. I keep the vax papers in the truck though but if it starts to be required at more places I'll probably laminate a card or something to fit in the wallet.
I've always had a wallet since I was a teenager. Lately I generally don't carry it, for one thing because I rarely pay cash. Instead I've been carrying various credit cards and similar form factor cards with a spring clip on them in one pocket. I hate sitting on a wallet, when I do carry my wallet (e.g. when I travel, etc.) I keep it in a front pocket and I usually wear cargo pants of some form... lots of pockets, the more the better. I've never lost a wallet to a pickpocket but figure they feast on back pockets, not much on front pockets, and they'd never guess where my wallet is anyway.

The larger employers I'm aware of are making people upload images of their cards to a portal. Vaccinations are recorded at state level and could ultimately be subject to verification if it looks like there is rampant fraud happening. Not only would you risk termination but prosecution as well. Presumably health insurers are going to get in on this eventually also in order to mitigate their own risk.
I couldn't get a quick Moderna booster from my HMO, so booked at CVS pharmacy 3 days ago and got the shot then. I input the info for my first two Moderna shots to my HMO's (Kaiser Permanente) website some 8 months ago, including the batch numbers, at their request. I tried to do that this morning for the Moderna booster I got 3 days ago and couldn't find the facility to do so. I called the Advice Nurse and was told they don't have that facility, I should email my doctor with the info. I did that and shortly got a call from his office and was asked to attach a photo of my vaccination card in a secure email to him, and I did that and got a thank you and he said he got his booster on the same day.

I guarantee they need me more than I need them. If everyone was me, everyone would be doing fine, and they'd be out of business. I've got > 1yr I don't even have to leave my 1ac lot.
That's a peculiar attitude. You go to a store in order to take advantage of the work they've done to make life easier for you. They've procured what you need. You've gone to the trouble to arrive at the store/venue so you've already committed yourself in some degree, whether you go in or not. If you decide to not go in because you resent them requiring proof of compliance, you're just cutting off your nose to spite your face.

How much do they need you? Almost not at all. You're one of thousands of potential customers. The loss of your business barely impacts them. However, if you turn around and refuse to shop there you have to take your business elsewhere, an inconvenience for you.

I'm quite aware that if everybody in the world was like me the world would fall apart very quickly. But you know what they say, "it takes all kinds to make a world," and baby that is so so true.

No, it's not unpopular opinion. Most countries will switch to "live with covid" approach next year. They will open back up fully for vaccinated. South Korea will switch to this approach in 2022. People are not going to put up with 3 years of lockdowns and governments all know it. They're all planning for "live with covid."
We'll probably be in endemic covid territory within 6 months anyway, probably sooner. At least in California. Not guaranteed, though.

I went skating today and found a $100 bill on the street. I thought it looked a little big. Got it home and determined it was just a good two sided photocopy, and it was a lot bigger than a $20 bill. Halloween hangover.

Ahh London, I remember it well. The insurance capital of canada. Loved Western University. When I got there the epitome of fun was drinking to excess at the CPR bar . That was it! ( probably still is).
The women, the drugs, the sit-ins, they were all
at U Of T .
Duh.
