Id go with South Beach (nice beach, good looking people, awesome atmosphere), Daytona (not the nicest beach, but lots of people), Tampa/Clearwater (nice beaches as well), or Destin (Nicest beach i have EVER SEEN):D

I'm trying to stay away from the hectic crowds that a place such as Miami would offer. I dont mind a big crowd, but nothing like what I deal with on South Street here in Philly. I hear South Beach is nice with the boardwalk and shopping strip.

I take it I can find resorts on the beach basically anywhere in FL huh?

I would recommend that you check out the Banana Bungalo in south beach, Miami. Cheap cheap hostel type accomodations, a short cab ride from Miami airport, and it is right on SoBe. Decent bar right there, too. And they have pc's in the lobby.
:)

Yes, you will have to fly into miami, but you do not have to do anything other than ride a cab from the airport.

Aphex: It is tough to redline out areas for persons who do not know how Miami works...I mean, Bayside is a block away from some of the worst areas of the city!!!

So it is just easier to say: stay away.

Yeah, SoBe IS miami...but it is just about the only nice part of Miami. Except for the Grove...but you really do not want to drive to the Grove.

You do not want to stay at a disney resort...stay at a hotel 2 miles away and pay 40 bucks a night. You will pay just as much for a beachside resort as you will for rooms on Disney property.

But I would not give the Disney corp a dime of my money.

Seriously, check out SoBe...you are 22 you will NOT regret it!
I have business with the Banana Bungalo and several other hotels in the Miami area, and for the money you just can't beat the Bungalow.

Oh, lots of Brazilians and European kids stay there, too...if you want an international flavor around the pool.
And the music they play there kicks ass...unlike any other hotel in SoBe.

Not to mention that portions of South Beach are nude beaches :D

I went to Miami for the first time last month for a few days. I stayed at the Wyndham Beach Resort which is a few miles north of SoBe in Miami Beach. Miami the proper city is really ghetto looking, but Miami Beach is ok and that's where you want to be anyway. It's really nice along the beach, with resort after resort right next to the ocean. The water was a nice aqua shade, but there was alot of seaweed and the water wasn't very clear. The sand had alot of stuff like shells and trash in it too... my search for the perfect beach continues. Anyone know of a spot with crystal clear blue/aqua water and perfect white sugar powder sand with minimum crap in it?

The Fiji Islands. I was their last November. Most beautiful I've ever seen.

Or were you referring to FL? ;)

Check out my earlier post. Destin, Seaside, Fort Walton. Very nice clean beaches and clear water.
