Best cities to be in? I've narrowed it down to Palm Springs and Palm beach or orlando.

Of course you didn't get many responses, lilcam. In your PM you asked what there is to do, here you're just asking what places to go.

Why do you guys recommend the spots you recommend?

What will you want to do and who will you be going with?

It is much easier to pick the activities and the style you want first then see what fits it, than to pick the area then find out what you can do there. Just my $.02

Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area is my personal fave... Ive grown up down here though so im a little biased... Theres alot to do in Miami though, south beach, Miami Metro Zoo, Bayside, Coconut Grove, not too far from Key Largo and the other keys either...

What about Destin/Fort Walton. Also Seaside is great. I stayed at seaside several times. It is where they filmed the Truman Show.

Aren't you from Florida? :D

I guess there is (It looks like it is a community in Palm Beach)

After lookin at it, its just a residental suburb of WPB, no real reason to go there unless your looking for a house :D

Palm Springs Fl is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

You wanna drink and party like an animal. Go to key west.

You wanna see all the beautiful people? Go to SoBe, Coconut Grove, Or Clematis Street in Palm Beach.

You into the geek life? Go to the Cape...but don't expect to get too close to watch a shuttle launch. 9-11 took care of that.

You wanna act like any other freaking tourist that goes to Fl? Go to Orlando--after all, 15 million goobers wearing shorts, sandals, and bad hawaiian shirts can't be wrong.

You have to tell us what you like to do in order to have anyone suggest an itinerary.

Im actually headin up to clematis street next weekend, if all goes well..

Try to park in one of the lots a couple of blocks away and walk around...lots of people cruise the street but it is a pain in the butt to get around...nothing like the Grove, of course, but still bad.

Oh, and please remember to bring money. Lots of it. Twice as much as you think you would need is a good start.
:)

well, i was planning to go to SF, but seeing that this is a fuor day trip and the fact that the plane wont get back until late sunday night if i were to go to SF, I've decided to stay ni the same time zone. I'm from Philly. San Fran would've been perfect. I thought about disney world, but thats too much money. Maybe spend some time at the beach, rent a boat or something, sightseeing, eating, etc...somewhere I dont have to drive all over the place. i have read that key west will require lots of driving.

i hear orlando is nice, then again ive heard about palm beach. i am staying away from Miami!

If you dont want to spend alot of money, DO NOT go to orlando.... Its a very expensive city due to all the tourists, and there isnt much free things to do there, if any :D

Palm Beach is a rich town and really pretty, but again not too much to do.. if ya like lookin at VERY expensive houses (Many are over 10-20 million) like the Kennedy Compound, its pretty interesting...

If you want to go to the beach, then orlando is the last place you want to go. If you want great beaches, then Daytona Beach is the place to go. If you want to rent a boat (you don't...you really don't...but if you do) and want to do it cheap, then the west coast is the place to go (they rent boats cheaper cause boating there sucks IMO). There are no real beaches in Palm Beach anymore, IMO, all the public beaches are suck.

There is nothing wrong with Miami as long as you stay away from certain areas. Like Miami.

Here's what I have in mind. A resort on a beach that has shopping areas and some tourist attractions nearby within walking distance or driving distance. I might add I am 22, so getting a rental car might be a problem

Naaa, im in Miami all the time and it isnt that bad, just stay out of Overtown and such... South Beach is far removed from any poverty, so its a FANTASTIC place to visit...
