I was wondering if there's a vacation you can take out in the mid-west/west where you actually live with traditional native americans....i don't mean some reservation where they have casinos and you stay at a five star hotel. i mean actual indians who still go by their traditional ways.....if that even exists

Doubt it; most of the traditional places around here, they have signs posted asking you not to take pictures of them or their things. Don't know how they'd like somebody living with them. ;)

I think the only people who live like "original native americans" reside only in africa, south america, and austrailia

Even if there were native americans who still lived by their old ways, you would basically fux0r up their traditions if you decide to go live with them...

Tourists are DESTROYING america's national parks. They often overcrowd, and pollute (litter and smog) the parks. The grand canyon isn't as clear and clean as it was 50 years ago...

If you want to preserve "tradition", stay the fsck away from it!

Weird! I was just thinking the same thing today. I bet you can, but it's going to be tough to find information about. From what I've seen, most native tribes from all over (native indians, africans, aboriginies(sp?), etc) are very receptive to outsiders as long as they're by themselves and have a sincere interest in their culture. Let me know if you find anything about it - I'd love to do it.

Oh come on. We aren't talking about driving a convoy of cars up to their teepees and setting up a base camp with computers and a cappuccino maker. We're talking about living with them, obeying their laws, and trying to blend in to learn from them. I find this totally acceptable and I encourage anyone to pursue such things.

I reccomend Ancient Lifeways Institute one of my fondest high school memories...

This is not shamanism... it's an examination of the way in which ancient cultures lived... by living that way over a period of one or two weeks....

For example... we got off the bus and had to complete the lodge where we would sleep for our tenure... It was really great... because of the nature of the setting there is an element of necessary spiritual awareness... though it is nt explicit, which truthfully I think legitimizes it even more...

Look in any urban paper... you can buy the trappings of spirituality anywhere... but understanding comes from experience IMO.

Hey that's easy just go get a job that takes you out on the Res a lot, check your state or federal Bureau of Indian Affairs. They always need nurses and stuff. More drunk Injuns than you can shake a stick at.
