Vacation spots?

Cuda1447

Lifer
Me and my gf want to go on a little vacation this summer. Something nearby florida. (Within reasonable driving distance) and not TO expensive. I figure we would be able to spend 5 days or so somewhere. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

Since you are already in Florida, east coast beaches are probably not a worthy vacation. Time to hit the Bahamas or Jamaica.

Beaches are cool and all, but they get boring.

Under 1000 is reasonable. Im a poor college student, so not to much please 🙂

seriously, we spent less than 500 (abt 450 i say) on a cruise to the bahamas for 4-5 days. Its so incredibly cheap, considering all u can eat food 24 hrs, all the amenities u get with a hotel room, etc. all those workers on the cruise are from overseas, and they get paid like literally $2 /hour. thats why they end up so cheap. So I would def. recommend u that.
I went during spring break, so im sure it will be cheaper in the summer.

You can easily sneak in some alcohol 😉 to save u couple hundred on extra expenditures. alcohol can add up to a lot on the cruise (4 bucks a beer at least)

Don't forget to include taxes, and other costs associated with cruises.

Don't forget $10 per person per day gratuities.

Have fun smuggling the booze IF you don't get caught. We're aware of it. 😉

Check my sig ... Aruba > * 🙂

I haven't been to Aruba, but I've been to a number of other places in and around the Caribbean...what would you say sets it apart from all those others?

OP: What kind of things are you into? Action? Historical sightseeing? Relaxation? Food?

Before I go to a new place I check it out on Trip Advisor to get other peoples reviews.

If y'all are into history some great places are Charlestown SC, Asheville NC, and Colonial Williamsburg VA.

Myrtle Beach has lots of fun stuff but might be similar to what you have in Florida. My parents have a beach cottage between Myrtle Beach and Wilmington NC, most places rent for $500-$600 a week until June and you can split between some historical stuff in Wilmington and the Myrtle scene.

I went to Pigeon Forge this past November (and visited Gatlinburg), they have great hiking trails but I'm sure you can find that in Georgia. The "historical" stuff wasn't really interesting, everything else was commercialized like you'll find in Myrtle, but with worse traffic.

How would they catch you if you hide the bottle in your luggage and go back to your room to fill up your mixed drink?

All carry ons are x-rayed.

If you do this successfully PLEASE don't go around in the public lounges with your loot. It's not right.
