Dissent can be really funny.

UPDATE: Trump-hating VA Doctor Eric Strong has posted that he photoshopped the VA office image he tweeted of Alec Baldwin in place of President Trump. Strong posted his original photo with the photo of Trump in its rightful place as proof.

Strong’s statement: “Sorry sir, but the picture is Photoshopped. I attached the original. You can think this isn’t funny, and I’m a jerk. That’s fine. And you can keep the story up – that’s your call, it’s your site. But please update it to point out that the photo is a joke, and not real.”

If he gets fired, I'm moving to Amsterdam.

I'm of the mindset that Trump should be shamed and ridiculed at every possible chance. He's incompetent at best and this should never become normal. Good for that doctor.

Sure, but you run into shit like this, which gets picked up by news outlets as real, who then immediately run with it because "lol Trump" stories get clicks. Then it's outed as fake, and the "FAKE NEWS" outrage news cycle starts. Meanwhile, real stories about important shit aren't getting any air.

Same shit just happened with Dave Weigel tweeting pictures of an empty arena before Trump arrived. I laugh at some of this stuff too, but it's not helpful at all.

The guy never altered the real picture on the wall, however, there are ethical rules that employees must follow so I would imagine that he's going to be disciplined for doing this. If we could only substitute Alec for Donald the world would be a better place.😀

Trump finally got around to having his official picture released at the end of October. Reviews on pro photography sites are rather amusing the word "sinister" being tossed around. A re-shoot is rumored to be in the works.

I have literally zero doubt that Alec Baldwin would be a more competent President than Trump. Honestly, my dog would be a more competent President.

It would be nice if the VA would concentrate on not fucking over Vets, and stop playing games.
What? He spends his time at the golf course and watching cable news and tweeting about it all day? Fire his worthless ass.

Have you ever in your life stopped to think about what you say?

Asinine joke, and entirely possible that one of his patients who is a Trump supporter could be harmed by undermining their treatment relationship (much less him losing his job). I absolutely do not believe that doctors should be politically absent or silent, but this is not the way.

Well woopty do, a snowflake Trump supporter could be harmed because he can't take a joke. World's tiniest violin concerto pending.

If he gets fired, I am sure he can get a job in private sector, but too bad for his patients.
Without a doubt he'd be hired in a sec. Usually when it comes to physician job openings there is about 1 applicant per spot.

But he won't be fired for this. At best a verbal reprimand from the chief for expressing political views in a fashion that imply they represent the VAs views as opposed to his personal views.

I'm not familiar with The Gateway Pundit but it's hilarious that they didn't question the photos validity before posting a story full of outrage over it. I guess the doc has the right to do whatever he wants with his personal twitter account and the VA has the right to can his ass if they feel his posts reflect poorly on the agency to an egregious enough degree.

We do need to keep in mind that Trump is doing enough to shame the office of President of the United States on his own, and at least respect the office as much as possible while calling out Trump for his douchebaggery. I fear the US will suffer the stain of President Trump long after he is gone.

The doctor didn't mess with the actual display, he just photoshopped a pic of it.

I can't tell from the article whether it was actually posted in a patient-accessible area or at least an area where patients might be able to see into from outside. Regardless, it is now on-line attached to his name as well as tweets originating from him. I don't think that the picture itself is a "big deal", but this is a fine example where something that seems trivial can turn out badly.

Ethics about a woman-assaulting, greedy, bigot. Rich.

I didn't expect this response from you. Firstly, it could hardly be argued that his intent was for Trump himself to receive this message, but instead it was intended for a different audience. Second, regardless of intent, the people who may be harmed are not Trump (whom I assume he doesn't have a treatment relationship with, otherwise it is egregiously unethical) but rather his and other VA patients. Thirdly, do you not recognize this slippery slope? Do you not see how Trump et al. continuously justify their damaging actions toward poor people, Muslims, immigrants, etc. by dehumanizing them? What makes that moral for you and not for them?

Regardless of overall morality, however, this is a doctor who has a duty to serve people. Absolutely that has a different ethical standard than how he treats others outside his professional role. He has a duty to provide the same quality of care to whomever becomes his patient or otherwise assist the patient in finding a provider who can.

An interesting situation. Conservative fear of the other drives them to demonize. Demonization is a dangerous thing and evokes a fear response in liberals that causes them to demonize conservatives who demonize them and others. The more that liberals justify demonizing conservatives because they increasingly demonize others, the more and more conservatives seeing liberals doing it do even more of it themselves. They have the proof they want right before their eyes. This kind of polarization thus escalates to catastrophic levels. I wonder if there is any point at which the danger of demonization of the other rises to such a level, say when a President shows all the symptoms of attempting to become a tyrant when ones duty to whatever in live suborn to the duty to do anything and everything to destroy that President? What is one's duty when the President is the enemy of the state and holds the reigns of power supported by a brain dead minority? I suppose the questions are meaningless because humanity is asleep.

I don't agree with this statement. This is human fear of the other for which scientific evidence has suggested is stronger in conservatives than in liberals, but not only is it universal, there is more diversity within conservatives and liberals than there is difference between the average conservative and average liberal. In either case, I personally think our society is increasingly normalizing this way of thinking for each group.
