v7100 + Det 23.11 problems under Win2k

Asus v7100 Pro (64 MB gf2 mx 400)
Win2k sp2
Gigabyte GA-7VTXH (KT266A)
DirectX 8.0a and 8.1

Between having DX 8.0a and 8.1, win2k was reinstalled, not a DX upgrade.

The drivers on the cd that came with the card are Asus's hacked Detonators. While they work fine for 2d stuff, they're quite lacking when it comes to 3d.
When Detonator 23.11's are installed, the system cannot install any monitor. Trying to use same monitor .inf used when the Asus video drivers are installed, Windows comes back with "The location specified does not contain info about your hardware"
Going to Display Properties - Settings - Advanced - Monitor, it shows up as Default Monitor, and the Properties buton is grayed out.

This isn't a huge problem, but the monitor won't go into power-save or standby with the Dets installed.
I've searched Asus's site, computing.net, with Google, and of course the AT forums, and found nothing about this.
Anyone have any ideas?

I have the V7100 DC and win2k w/SP2 also.

Asus tech support sucks. Can't get ahold of the Tiawan site.

What make monitor?
......see if there is a newer .inf file on the monitor.
Does that MB have a VIA chipset?

Try newer Asus drivers.

nVidiea drivers diasble some of Asus's funtions, since they aren't written for their cards.

What make monitor

Samsung 700b. No newer inf for it, but I've used the newer inf for the 700b Plus successfully with the Asus drivers, as well.

Does that MB have a VIA chipset

Yes, KT266A (see first post🙂)

Try newer Asus drivers

Done, but the 3d performance just isn't as good as with the 23.11's. :\
