Would the v6 Caddy be underpowered? I really like the Caddy but I'm still thinking a Toyota Camry b6 would be a better choice.

you're cross-shopping a caddy and a camry?

as my rule of thumb, always take the biggest engine possible in a car. however, that may not be 100% reliable today.

Well I don't know. I'm into lux style sedans so I've been looking at
06+ Caddy CTS
04-06 v6 Camry
Avalon
06+ 3.5 Altima
Infiniti G Sedan

What else?

Ford Fusion (if looking for camry size), Lincoln MKS or LS if you're looking for altima, CTS sizes..

Still will pimp the Towncar. Hardpressed to find as much luxury in as little a price since they depreciate like bricks. Which is about as quick as they'll move. (Though I've seen some pretty interesting supercharger mods that have definitely changed that a little.) :D

it's small (only 3.9L) and it's old. its still got more torques than the G35 at lower RPM, so it'll probably be a decent driving experience. power to weight ratio isn't bad either (3777 lbs according to carpoint)

I hope you're not referring to the 08+ CTS? Sure the v6 in the Camry is good but no where near the level of the 3.6 DI v6 in the CTS. The engine aside the Camry isn't even in the same league as the CTS.

C&D times for an '08 CTS w/ the base 263HP V6 (NOT the DI):
Zero to 60 mph: 6.4 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 16.9 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 37.0 sec
Street start, 5?60 mph: 6.7 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 14.9 sec @ 94 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 135 mph

"Compared with the DI, the base V-6 propels the CTS to 30 mph in an identical 2.2 seconds. To 60 mph, it?s only 0.4 second behind, and through the quarter-mile it?s but 0.3 second and 3 mph in arrears. Driving the base and DI cars back-to-back, what you?ll notice is the more powerful engine?s half-second edge in 30-to-50-mph passing maneuvers."

So it won't be a thrilling ride, but is far from slow.

this, because the previous gen TL's are just so sexy looking. the CTS is a RWD though. and isn't the CTS V8 about $50k+?

The '08 CTS-V is $59k. That's the one that is currently hotter than lava. An 06' CTS-V could probably be had pretty cheap given that the demand for it went down when the new one came out. KBB suggest around $33k, which is pretty good for what you get.

I think the 08's coulda been had for around $33k as well with the GM employee discount, but probably a base model. I like the current generation cts alot, but was not impressed (with the styling and interior at least) of the previous gen ones

I third the recommendation for the TL. If you're looking for luxury, sportiness, and don't mind FWD, then I think it's the best choice.
