I've just rediscovered my voice modem from my oooold computer, and have been routing my phone through it. It has a mic input and speaker output, neither of which seem to work. If anyone knew anything about that, it would be nice to know why... by my question is: is there any way to upgrade my modem from the V90 standard to V92 without buying anything new?
 
As I recall, a lot of V.90 modems were firmware-upgradeable to V.92. Check the manufacturer's site to see if you can do it.
