I can confirm that mine did in fact come with 2gb of disk space. Software is easy to use.

I'd say it is very well worth $50.

Scrap what i just posted. This thing is a POS. Next time I post, I'll wait 12 hours before I pass judgment on Quality. The thing just took a memory dump and cleared out ALL of my data. I didn't even do anything... One moment it was working, I turned it off. 20 min later, turn it on and its all gone. I'll have wait until I get home to plug it in and see what happend.

The only thing working is the radio and so far, thats still ok. $50 for a FM radio ... a tad bit on the high side.

I received two of the 1GB versions about a week ago. Both of them are working fine, so I can't complain about a thing... yet.

The interface takes some getting used to, but I was expecting it to be much worse than it actually is. They used decent icons and the controls become intuitive after a few days...

The earphones are crap, but i replaced them with a personal set with decent sound quality.

The FM gets a tiny bit of static when you scroll through the menu while listening to it, but goes back to normal decent reception when you're not touching buttons.

I only bought these for the gym and they are serving their purpose very well... so far.

Hard to complain, Uxcell isn't ripping you off like people are on Ebay... they actually give you 2gb worth of storage. I'm just curious what happend to mine... how does solid state memory lose data like that - there was no static, no nuclear explosion EMP or anything... weird.

i guess i have soft fingers , after few minutes usage, controls started hurting. it is very mac os un-friendly, even when using XP to load songs into, some of the folders were inaccessible or currupted. it is I am used to ipod quality and moaning for nothing, or got a lemon one. therefore, i am unable to share TrojanAaron's positivism for this item. sorry..

and yes..radio works great..it is great ipod looking radio for 50 bucks..

This is a few days old, but I'll reply to it just in case. When zeroidea said "people who don't know any better can transcode mp3s to mp4, saving space and degrading quality in the process" he meant just that -- going from an mp3 file to an mp4 (AAC format) file degrades quality. Don't do it. It's because the mp3 file is already lower quality than the original, and going from one lower-quality copy to another type of lower-quality copy (AAC) gives you even lower quality still. But going from CD -> mp3 or CD -> AAC are roughly equivalent; there are a lot of reviews and double-blind comparisons out there, but neither is clearly superior.

So, don't transcode one lossy format (MP3) into another (AAC), but rip your CDs into whichever format you prefer.

If you want way more information on those formats than you can stand, visit the hydrogenaudio.org forums (like the "Choosing the best codec", page, for example).

Thanks. Got mine yesterday (friday 2-23). I ordered it on the 9th, email says shipped on the 12th. I got the 1gb Full Metal Platinum (red). So far not a bad little player. Still getting used to the menu but other than that no problems. If this thing works ok for me, I'll probably buy a few more for birthday gifts! Thanks OP.

Turns out its garbage and its not even 4gb, its 2gb. WTF!
The vids are sooo crappy, if you put a 30min show on here in the middle of the show the video will crap out on you and say format error.
The navigation sucks so bad he trashed the whole thing and is now using $30 Samsung MP3 player. LOL

YES...Absolutely so. Stay Away. Go and get an old and used iPod from eBay. At least it works as an iPod should works. I hate to admit but there is no substitude to iPod. This is imitation is a garbage for anyone who has ever used an iPod. A bad imitation I must say.
