UV Sleeving

I want to make the inside of my new computer look really good. I see pictures of people with UV Sleeving or UV Cables in their Computer Cases. I was thinking of sleeving my own case cables. I was curious what it would take to light them up. I have 1 120mm Fan with blue LEDs and 1 80mm Fan with Blue LEDs on it. Will that light up UV cabling/sleeving?

Not really. If it does, it won't be very noticeable. The best thing to do is get a UV cold cathode tube... They come in 6", 12", 15", and other sizes. Logisys makes the best ones that I've used...

You know I already have a cold cathode tube...its really old..but it looks like its got like lightning inside it. Are all of the cold cathodes that way or is there a solid cathode that can be hidden very easily. Also I heard in the past that the cold cathodes can interfere with the components in the computer. Is there any truth to that kind of statement?

Interfere as in how? I never had any problems generated with EMI that I know of, but sure as hell the UV lights did change the colors of my motherboard. The PCI slots exposed to it turned brown, while ones not exposed stayed white--stuff like that. I thought I was seeing things at first, but it did give my case an internal sun tan.

Thanks for the info!!! I think I might try to find a thinner cold cathode so I can hide it better than my old school one. 😀😀

Remember, you don't want to hide them away, as that reduces how much they light the rest of your case....

i think he mean hide it somewhere from view so you cant see it but still lights up all of the case, just just above the window on the side, cant see anything there but its not blocked by anything and therefore wont be affected.

Lights and bling kinda get played out after a while tho. You personally want to try HIDING the wires and cables rather then UV sleeve and expose to add bling, :X

But if your that insistant on bling 😀

Unless u have done sleeving b4, id stay STOP, and turn around get a PSU thats already sleeved.

If your still insistant on sleeving then your gonna need a few basic tools.

1. molex head removers or a small percision flat head screw driver
2. pin heads or u can try to bend the tips back into place without breaking them.
3. some sort of heat gun and shrink wrap tubing.

The problem with sleeves is you need to close the ends or it slides. The Sleeve is also extremely hard to get on the cable without removing the molex head, and the shrink wrap is nearly impossible. Expect to invest a LOT of hours if u want to sleve your main rail also because that takes a rediculous amount of time and you CANT MESS UP on the arrangement or you fry everything. (well a lot of hours is a exaggeration, but expect at least close to 1 hour, because 24 pins = taking off sleeving putting on = 2-3min per pin = 48-72 min just on the main rail. 😀

<my friend whose been sleeving for 4 yrs now can do the main rail in 20min, but he kinda cheats by cutting the cable and using new pins. He's also a nerd who memorized the pin layout.

Heres some stores that carry nice mod gear for stuff like that:

Xoxide.com <--- my personal favorate but its not dirt cheap. They carry a lot of UV stuff like UV Molex heads and Pins. Basically your all around case mod shop.

Performance-PCs.com <--- average price, but good selection

FrozenCPU.com <---- the MOST EXPENSIVE but they have EVERYTHING.

Directron.com <---- carry only basic stuff but dirt cheap <on case mod supplies>. 😀

Jab-Tech.com <--- decient amount of stuff and great prices.
