just by reading your subject line i already know what you're talking about...MLM..

So...you had a negative attitude towards it beforehand (understandable !) why then did you go there ? Didnt you know what to expect ?

I once applied for a job...and it was obvious they did some MLM sh*te..NOTICE...they ALWAYS want money from you for the first invitation to their 'meetings'....and already this alone should flip up a red warning flag in your head :)

I am applying for a job because i want to make money, and NOT to PAY money for some MLM shite...not to mention i never made the travel to the next bigger town where they had their 'meeting' :)

(This is a long time ago..i also remember what problems the hiring person had to explain me what they actually DO.......and i made him very, very uncomfortable sitting on the other side of his desk on the chair..with my legs cofortably stretched out below almost to where he was on the other side....he gave me this look....lollol...but still....he tried hard to ask me to go to the meeting and wanted to 'hire' me :)

Edit: (just to make sure you got that :)
* they NEVER tell you what they actually DO *especially* on the phone !
* at the actual interview they're surprinsingly interested in you and seem to have a job for you
no mater what experience
* most of them deal with cosmetics btw..my own impression
* they ask for a SMALL fee which is supposed to cover the cost for 'inviting' you to some introductary meeting
* at the meeting (if you didnt back out already at this point!) they want a biger amount of money
* if you're already gone so far that you travelled somewhere, payed already some 'fee' and hear all the sh&te at the meeting and (in addition) are also somewhat gullible there is a high chance you will actually shell out some $500 or so.
* mostly it's that you 'buy' some cr*p like cosmetics for that money which you're supposed to sell ("your own copany") , but the main point is that you are supposed to get more people in the scheme, thus MLM (multi level marketing)

LOLYourface: What problem do you have with being 'rude' to that guy ???? Grow some spine and tell him to stick his MLM in the @nus ??? Then its unikely he will call again...

yea but keep in mind he's oblivious to this and was very sincere. It's not like he knew it was a scam and was trying to drag me in. He knew I'm a Christian and enjoy business meetings and philosohpical discussions so he wanted me to experience what HE THOUGHT was something truly ground-breaking business culture.

I can't just tell him off and tell him stfu and eat his nuts. He's a mutual friend of mine. You gotta handle relationships more carefully in real world. ;)

if he INTEDED to screw me over, then I'll tell the fvcker to drop dead in a sec.

Sad thing is watching when friends fall victim to it
I've known a couple who did and invested tons of time and energy and some money
Then they get burned
But you kept trying to tell them the whole time and they are too brainwashed into believing in it.

Just remember, aside from the lottery, inheriting, and starting your own successful business you won't get rich or money for doing nothing :p

Refuse. Doesn't matter how you do it, scream in his face if you have to. Just don't go back.

So now you are brain washed too huh? Experience what "HE THOUGHT" was something truly ground-breaking? That is how this scam is spread, "My friend would never scam me, if he is doing it, then he must be right. I should do it too".

LOLyourFace...take him to lunch, sit him down, and tell him what you really think. I believe honesty is the only way to go here. Do a little research on Google on this place and others like it. I'm sure that there are more than enough hate websites for these kinds of pyramid companies. If he is already sucked in too far, it's too late. Good luck.

Is this how those ebay schemes work where they sell you a way to get free radeon 9800's for pennies on the dollar?

Selling you the junk to sell other people the junk so you can collect your pennies and and eventually buy the radeon?

I've had a few people try and sucker me into these things.

I say the same thing to each of them - "Have you got a check from it yet"

The response is ALWAYS "No, not yet, but soon".

And then I reply back, "Come talk to me again when you do finally get one."

Oddly enough, I've never had one come back and talk to me.

Anyone involved with that 'company' is either too naive to recognize evil, or has plans to use and abuse you. Either way, sounds like you a great opportunity!!!...to screw with them. Repeat back exactly what everyone says to you. Change names every time you are introduced to someone new. Refer to the CEO as a messiah. speak in tongues. walk around barefoot. have no less then 5 toothpicks in your mouth at all times. fart loudly and point at a suit/skirt across the room. be/act drunk. hit on EVERYone, and ask them to grade the firmness of your _______. Smell people, visibily.

I still can't believe you and I are the only people who noticed that. You'd have a very hard time convincing a large number of people that MLK wasn't a good leader.

I first learned about MLMs when I was contacted by someone in Primerica about a job opportunity. Fortunately, I was curious about what they did, and if there were any negative things I should know about. Not only did I look at their website, I also used Google to see if there were any complaints regarding the company. Much of the information was regarding Amway, but there were a few about Primerica.
