Mine was delivered today, I can't wait to play with it when I get home.. still need some big fast memory for it though :-

I hope Canon didn't pull the camera or something.. guess Dell just isn't offering it (at this moment)

deal is back; sortof.

The whole thing is sort of sketchy.

I called this morning to ask why it wasnt on the website, and was informed that it was still in stock despite not being on the website. But then I was told i couldnt get the sale price.

Later, i looked up the offer details and saw the sd300 was explicity named as %10 off. So I called back, explained that and the CSR agreed to take %10 off. Then i used a $35 coupon, and for one reason or another was informed that they couldnt do that, and would instead give me $30 off.

strange? I got the camera for $330, not as hot as the rest of you, but hot enough for me.

So yeah, I got my camera, and it is cooler than I expected! The 2.0" screen is wonderfully large and awesome, as well as the new more compact size, while still packing an incredible 3.0X optical zoom which is great. I need to get a new slick case for it (amazon? $19) and a fast 256/512/1gb memory card, but my S410 is already on eBay! I know brag & moan forum, but I would say its on topic. The thing that kind of "surprised me" is that it has a shiny coating on half of the camera (kind of like the iPod, but plastic base) so its easy to get worried about the camera getting dirty/fingerprints smudged etc, but other than that the new operating system is really cool and I like the Digic II, I also decided to read the manual and all about the cool new manual modes of the camera, instead of just guessing. Highly recommended, especially if you can get it for under $300!! ::thumbsup::

For those not wanting so small, the Canon A95 is a nice unit. It is the replacement for the A80, not to be confused with the A75/A85.

just got mine!! it's awesome. gotta figure out the diffrences in menu buttons/functions - just slight differences from my S230. the screen is nice - i'm impressed. audio is an added fxn i didn't have on my s230 - so that's cool. the pics are clear (video, too) just need to test some daylight picture taking.

i fogot to mention that my brother had ordered the sandisk 512mb - awesome - on the best quality settings i get 243 pictures!!!!

ARE YOU BUYING A CAMERA TO TAKE PICTURES OR MOVIES???

Use google to search for reviews...."sd300 review" is a good start....

dcpreview, steves digicam, and dc-resource will all have about the same to say....

S410 takes better pictures
SD300 takes better video

I currently have a 4yr old Canon S300 (2.1mp, 3xoptical) that although it's in near perfect shape, I'm ready to upgrade.....so I have been looking at the SD300 and S410.

I would have already gone out and bought the SD300, but the issues of detail loss, lens flare, and vingetting (sp?) are pretty major to me as I tend to take a lot of out door pics in daylight.....

I'm not going to type paragraph after paragraphy of why this is better than that....go google and make up your own mind.

BTW, the 2" LCD On the SD300 compared to the smaller S410 is amazing.....

It can also be argued that the SD300 takes better pictures.... since it will certainly get you shots that the S400 was too slow to get. And I would say a picture is better than no picture at all.

The speed difference is really amazing. Shot to shot time is superb for a non SLR. Focus time is also very fast.

any owners of the s400/s410 experience the dreaded memory card error or E18 error? from what i read, the problem hasn't been fixed on the sd200/300 series either. that's why i went with the sd110 for my girlfriend. that and the s230 (which both my best friend and i have owned with no problems in 2 years) seem to be the most reliable of the current elphs thus far. my aunt's s400 locked up her memory card recently. she's owned it for just over a year.

yea it is, as i've seen in stores. it also sucks more battery life (steves digicams review data shows this). then again, you can go with the aftermarket batteries (1200mAh cell for my s230) which pretty much takes care of that.

SD300 is back at dell w/ a 10% off discount ($360)

go to www.passwird.com to read how to get it for $324 w/a Dazzle USB 8 in 1 card reader

1. 1. Add the Canon Powershot SD300 Digicam to cart at $399.
2. 2. Add the Zio Dazzle Hi-Speed 8-in-1 USB Memory Reader to cart at $15.71.
3. Total: Camera $399 - auto 10% discount $39.90 + Card Reader $15.71 - $10 rebate - $40 off $400 coupon ************ = $324.81.
4. Coupon expires 11:59 pm pst or after 2500 uses. Free shipping.

---or just wait a few more days for another $40 off $350 and hopefully a 15% off coupon to make it a camera for $299.15 (like last week)

There is a $35 off $400 coupon today only.

I added a 512mb Sandisk SD card - $48.86 (and also a $15 rebate later).

So I ended up paying $403 and some change, then a $15 rebate coming in + 3.0% fatcash. (I got charged tax...argh, $30 in taxes!)

So after rebates, it'll be like $375 for SD300 + 512mb SD card

There are a couple of threads on dpreview by people who have both S400/410 and SD200/300 and all I have seen agree that there is very little, if any difference between the 2. In fact one side by side showed the SD300 with less soft corners than the S410.

just wait for the next dell coupon, i think today i saw $35 off $400 which would mean you would have to add a $1+ filler, and i didn't check if Dell offers 15% off.. actually i just listed mine on ebay (under the same alias) b/c i bought an SD200 (didn't need the 4mp) 3 was good 'nuff lol..

Remember that the difference between 4MP and 3MP is not as great as you might think.

3MP : 2048 x 1536

4MP : 2272 x 1704

If you do not absolutely NEED that extra bit, consider the SD200, which is about 2/3 the price. I bought mine for about $200, and 3MP is PLENTY for normal 4x6 prints. Except for those extra pixels, the SD200 is otherwise completely identical in features to the SD300, I believe.

However, if you decide you want to stay on the 4MP side, this deal rocks.

Well i just picked up the sd300 for 321 at BB.

Sale price, $359 - the 10% coupon = $321.1

took advantage of the free 18month financing because it gives me bonus reward points for the best buy rewards card.
