utorrent connect problem

I?m having a connectability problem that I can?t get resolved. I have an embarq DSL modem and a Linksys wireless router hooked to my computer and everything was working fine before I reformatted and installed XP. When using utorrent I am not connectable from the internet. I had a problem with the modem and called Embarq and had to do a reset on the modem to get the internet working again. Since that I have no connectability with utorrent. The computer has a static 192.168.1.10, the Linksys 192.168.1.1. All other internet works. I have set up the Linksys correctly as far as forwarding, I had saved the configuration and reloaded it into the Linksys. I think the problem is with the modem but don?t know how to resolve it. When I had it set up before I didn?t need to do anything to the modem. Any ideas?

check the port u have forwarded is the same one as utorrent is configured with.

click the little yellow triangle at the bottom of utorrent and test it. make a note of the port its trying to connect with and make sure the router maches, also check the forwarding ip

I can get to the internet and utorrent works. People are not able to connect to me is the problem. I have shut off the firewall, set up the Linksys to forward both tcp and udp to the same port as utorrent ( currently 11018), and have set this up numerous time before with no problem. The only thing different this time is the reset on the modem, that's why I think the problem may be there. I don't know what else can be wrong.

have you checked the XP firewall? be sure utorrent is allowed.

you could also remove the router and try again. computer -> modem -> internet. If that works fine, you at least know its not the modem.

He stated that he shut off the firewall. 😉

But telling him to try without the router is a good start. I'd agree to try that.

This is what you need to do. Narrow down your problem.
If this does work maybe setup your computer to be a DMZ

i had the same exact problem with utorrent, and i tried portforwarding and it did not seem to solve the problem, i did everything from modem/p.c setup and doubled checked but it kept on being disconnected!
i then uninstalled utorrent and installed Azureus and everything was working fine, and it is actually better than most torrent programs with speed and features!
