utility to detect max cd-r speed EDIT: found it! GRRRR

what was the url of the program that could detect the maximum speed you could burn a cd-r too?

edit: i found it, but apparently, my cd's that are rated at 40x are only able to be written at a max speed of 12x. that pissed me off!

nero.

what makes me mad is that my cheap-o cd-rs that i had lying around (which i dont think were rated up to 40x) burned fine at 40x, and these were expensive name-brand memorex! :|

I don't know, I'm using K-Hypermedia Multi -Speed 32X and the thing says they'll burn at 40X (the highest my burner will go).

Now these 16X PNY's are rated at 32X? Hmm..

thats really odd. i have memorex cd's they burn at 40x. also have Imation and kHypermedia ones that aso burn at 40x

i dont trust Smart-burn. i have a lite-on and it said i could burn my 16X CDs at 40X, but when i did that, about half of my CDs have CRC errors. so just to let you know that SMART-burn is not foolproof.
