Utah sheriffs warn Obama they'll die to defend Second Amendment

The Utah Sheriffs' Association has issued fightin' words to President Obama. In a stern letter, the organization hints they would go to war against the federal government in the event their citizens are denied their right to bear arms against criminals and "tyrannical subjugation."

The organization urges the government to "make no mistake … we will enforce the rights to our citizens guaranteed by the Constitution." In conclusion, the letter states: "We, like you, swore a solemn oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, and we are prepared to trade our lives for the preservation of its traditional interpretation."

Colo. sheriff refuses to enforce gun-control bills

A Colorado sheriff says he won't enforce two aggressive gun-control measures waiting to be signed into law by Gov. John Hickenlooper.
Weld County Sheriff John Cooke told The Greeley Tribune (http://bit.ly/141Ee2z ) that Democratic lawmakers are scrambling after recent mass shootings, and the bills are "feel-good, knee-jerk reactions that are unenforceable."

One bill expands background checks on firearm purchases, and the other limits ammunition magazines to 15 rounds. The 15-round magazine limit would make Colorado the first state outside the East Coast to ratchet back gun rights after last year's shootings in Aurora, Colo., and Newtown, Conn.

The sheriff said he "won't bother enforcing" the laws because it would be impossible for officers to keep track of how the requirements are being met by gun owners — and he and other sheriffs are considering suing the state to block the measures if they are signed into law.

Cooke said the bill passed Friday requiring a $10 background check to legally transfer a gun wouldn't keep firearms out of the hands of those who use them for violence.

"Criminals are still going to get their guns," he said.

The magazine-limit bill passed earlier in the week will technically ban all magazines because of a provision that outlaws any magazine that can be altered, he said, adding that all magazines can be altered to a higher capacity.

Good for those sheriffs. It is highly unlikely there will be blood in the streets over the 2nd Amendment and legislation regarding it any time soon. Nor does any sane person want there to be any. However, ff there ever was a line drawn and crossed then those sheriffs wouldn't be standing alone.

Sides are being drawn.

Small Organizations like this are no match to the 200,000 troops staged in Canada but when you add up enough of these organizations there is a chance.

Lol wut. What troops?

Why are you still allowed to post this rubbish? Go back to infowars with the rest of the nuts.

These sheriffs are real patriots unlike some of the scum we have that attack the 2nd Amendment. The idiots in the government wouldn't dare try to confiscate all guns because they know it wouldn't be allowed to happen. Most of the soldiers and cops wouldnt do it and would know they could get shot.

These sheriff's are a bunch of gun nutters. Are they willing to die to support the first amendment? I doubt it. Real patriots.
If the time does come, they will die, in a hail of automatic weapons fire or a rocket from a black helicopter..:)

my issue with their statement is the following

"and we are prepared to trade our lives for the preservation of its traditional interpretation."

So if Scotus for example decides to reverse on District of Columbia v. Heller, they will lay down their lives.

The sheriffs of Nevada, while not taking the same tone, have effectively said the same thing. In the last week or two they had a combined meeting and decided that any executive order impinging upon the second amendment would not be enforced anywhere within the state.

Nothing like over reacting right? Obama has already stated what executive orders he plans on making, none include taking away guns.

As mentioned previously, I wonder what they would do if the law was actual changed and the constitution amended? Would these guys then defend the constitution then or only when it's something they agree with?

It's akin to those that say they are strict believers in the constitution but are quick to take away someone's first amendments rights when simething is said they don't like (piers Morgan, Westburo church, etc).

I love when conservatives go off on these crazy rants. Shows the rest of the country just how damn crazy they are. Unfortunately it makes the rest of the world think the US is full of only these loons. Ever notice how conservative crazy rants sound eerily similar to North Korean ones?

Traitors, eh?

Yeah, a one-party system where you get locked up if you dissent would be great wouldn't it. Just like good ole USSR.

Dissent and North Korea... aren't exactly two peas in a pod.

If their people spoke out like the Sheriffs, they'd be lined up on a mortar range.

If only you cared about all the other amendments to the constitution.

You don't, because you are a puss-brained tool.

Sounds like a good time to be applying to your local sheriff for that concealed carry permit you've been thinking about getting.
