DAAMIT AMD! Come out with your Barcelona. OK, I'm joking because the game won't even be ready in September according to Mark Rein.

This means I won't even bother with a dual core. I'll keep my single core 4000+ until UT3 comes out. :D

They said the game will run OK on cards made since 2006. Hehe, at least I didn't order an expensive card. I ordered an X1650 XT.

/EDIT: Whoops! I forgot to add the linky...

Wounder who will be first, Phenom X4 or UT3? I hope for the first, so I have time to buy it (if it's good and competitive) before UT3 breaks loose.

let me get this straight: Youre basically saying "More CPU power benefits applications"??

somebody call the Nobel prize commity! this guy is a genius!

of course it would benefit greatly! what application wouldnt!?

oh i got one: write a program that loops a "wait 10 seconds" command.
i break 200FPS on that one easily.

am i cranky this morning or what...

I stand by my past position in this matter: I'll believe it when I see it. Besides, Mark Rein isn't exactly the most trust-worthy person as far as those marketing-related technology information is concerned. (based on his track-record) Not that I know him personally nor I claim that he's a dishonest person, but I'm just talking about his position at his corporation. In the end, that company makes most profit by selling its engines.

I'll make a prediction that UT3 will run much better on a dual core cpu with something like a x1900 or 8800 series video card than a quad core cpu with a x1650 level card. Video card > cpu when it comes to games.

OMG!

Get this man a medal!!1!!

Now seriously, i do agree that'll be the case.

Then again, UT2k4 is very CPU dependent, so even though i don't think quad core will be all that much better than dual, we shall see i suppose.

Any single threaded app, including most current, and all older games.

Unless your heavily multi-tasking, dual/quad core wont help if the program isn't multi-threaded.

In supreme commander, CPU > GPU

Hardcore.
