Your startement about UT3 playing like UT2k4 is entirely false. the weapon chnanges and removal of dodge jumping alone are reason enough that UT3 could never play like UT2k4.

did you say 'removal of dodge jumping' ? what is the difference between the 2k4 dodge jumping and UT3 dodge jumping? or do i have this wrong... i know they have double jump & dodging off of walls in UT3

You clearly excluded dodge jumping from the post, I'm trying to decide if you are being facetious or truly don't know...

double jump = 2x jumps
wall jump = jump then dodge off a wall
dodge jump = dodge, then jump while in mid dodge for an extended dodge movement.
wall dodge jump = jump, go next to a wall, dodge them jump in mid dodge for an even further wall dodge jump, able to get to places like the LG from the bridge on campgrounds (or u can use the ledge and be a slow newbie while i plant an LG in your head).

I don't know, i've only played UT 2004 maybe 2-3 times total

I was excited to buy UT3, but without a linux client, I said screw it. From talking to my friends, it was a good decision not to buy it.

you really only need one good server to have fun with the game. I play at the umgleague one that is almost always full at any decent hour and quite busy all day round. Only downside is usually at least half of the players in the server are pretty good at worst meaning if you just got the game it will be very hard.

What's your ingame name? :)

I play there too, since it's populated & has some nice non-standard maps.

Shame to see this franchise get bashed so harshly. I have very fond memories of UT99 with friends playing till 2am and having to go to work the next day and we'd talk about it. I don't care how bad the graphics are compared to these days... that game was the sh!t and I truly wish I could go back in time for that.

I also used to play UT constantly back in its heyday and still think it provided a multiplayer experience unmatched by any other FPS. The only comparable game was Descent 3 in my opinion, but that never had anything like the same level of activity.

I agree that UT3 gets a lot more flak than it deserves around here, but there is no denying that online activity is exceptionally low for such a recent game. I believe there are more people playing the original UT in CTF than this game.

The strange thing to me is how many people are still playing UT2K4. Honestly UT3 dm is about the same at UT2K4 dm. I'm wondering if most of them have systems too weak to run it well enough to play decently and that's why they dis it so much.
