Good to see Epic supporting their game. Now if only they would fix the UI.

Morbias is a hilarious map, especially with 16 players.

Why Facing Worlds wasn't shipped with the game is the least of their failures with UT3. Man, they screwed the pooch on this one. Gears of Unreal looks with abysmal stability = epic fail! (Pun intended.)

UT3 < *

putting in old maps does not help this, no amount of maps will help this.

It seems that many people dislike UT3. Its a excellent game once you completely disable the mouse acceleration.

How do I make my mouse sensitivity like it was in UT2004?

Lets dig the ut2004 settings to get some info first.

-Open user.ini in your ut2004/system folder and serch for "MouseSensitivity"
-Get the number associated with it.

-Run UT3 and set the mouse sensitivity to 1, then exit.
-open UTInput.ini in your C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3 Demo\UTGame\Config folder
-set bViewAccelerationEnabled=False
-set MouseSensitivity=5

And now to set the rotation to the same as your 2k4 rotation:

Take your UT2k4 sensitivity that we got in the first step and multiply it by 2.4

Here is an example::
UT2004 sens was .50, multiplied by 2.4 gives me 1.2.

This is the number that we will use to get UT3 to feel the same.

A few lines down in the same file as above (UTInput.ini) you will find:

Bindings=(Name="MouseX",Command="Count bXAxis | Axis aMouseX")
Bindings=(Name="MouseY",Command="Count bYAxis | Axis aMouseY")

And we will add the new rotation speed into it like this:

Bindings=(Name="MouseX",Command="Count bXAxis | Axis aMouseX Speed=1.2")
Bindings=(Name="MouseY",Command="Count bYAxis | Axis aMouseY Speed=1.2")

Save and close UTInput.ini

After changing my settings, it play control is extremely close to UT2004.

Very Good Stuff.

Awesome bonus pack! 3 whole maps! What an incredible amount of new content!

Looks like they put as much effort into the bonus pack, proportionately speaking, as they put into the game. Another Epic fail.

Compared to their own Bonus Packs of the past it is meager, but compared to other Game Makers it is still impressive. You can criticize Epic for UT3, but you can't criticize them for top notch support unmatched by anyone else, with the possible exception of Valve.

Too little too late.

I've already given up on the game, the warfare mode was all that was of interest to me and the maps got very old very quickly. The only thing that keep my playing a little longer was hearing "PANCAKED" when i crouched in the big spider mech on some poor sap thinking he was in my blind spot.

With COD4, crysis multiplayer to still figure out (hey, it'll last me a week or so), WiC, stalker MP (it's fun when it doesn't lag like hell), sins of a solar empire, supreme commander, ect ect i have no need of UT3 anymore.

It's hard to kick free content in the nuts, but it's not like the community wouldn't have re-made these in short order. I'd rather get original designs from the dev.

Not that it matters. I never bought a copy, and don't plan to.

hu?

Your startement about UT3 playing like UT2k4 is entirely false. the weapon chnanges and removal of dodge jumping alone are reason enough that UT3 could never play like UT2k4.

did you say 'removal of dodge jumping' ? what is the difference between the 2k4 dodge jumping and UT3 dodge jumping? or do i have this wrong... i know they have double jump & dodging off of walls in UT3

Free content is good to see, but the original game was already very short on maps and three more doesn't do much to make up for it. At least two of them are CTF though.

I think the problem here is that Epic is putting tons of effort into designing each map, and as a result it's taking them much more time to make each one. Although the overall art style is a bit repetitive, the maps are very well detailed, more than even most singleplayer games I've seen. The maps contain tons of stuff that most players will never notice, as this is not the sort of game where people will be taking time to explore everything carefully.

Epic hosed the UI so badly on this one ... the server browser is total crap. But that's o.k. as there are no servers to browse really. Sad, really sad.

When I first purchased UT3 I was really hoping that all the maps from UT2k4 would be there....but i was disappointed to find a pathetic selection of pretty boring maps....I don't think this will make me reinstall it- perhaps after another 'bonus pack' arrives I might.

Since the game isnt selling well, why dont these dumbazzes do a price drop to $29.99 to spur sales?

Epic will probably make alot more money that way, and we will finally get a decent number of people playing it..

One thing that I hated about UT3 was that the aiming was completely off. There was screwy mouse acceleration even if you changed "bViewAccelerationEnabled=False". It sucked. It was very difficult for me to hit any thing, and made the game completely unenjoyable. After changing the mouse sensitively by the Axis aMouse Speed and not by MouseSensitivity the Aiming has improved 100%. It's a different game then UT2004, but at lease the aiming for me is very close to the way it was in UT2004. The game has become quite enjoyable.

Bah, you guys need to play instead of whine :p

I am disappointed by UT3 in many ways, as it simply doesn't beat UT2k4 for me.

But it's still tons of fun, especially since there's lots of old maps ported over already, or also new ones added, which adds to the fun.

Epic was warning you with the naming scheme.

UT2k4 = UT2004
UT3 = UT3

What's higher, 2004 or 3? Even they knew how much of a step backward this was.

You clearly excluded dodge jumping from the post, I'm trying to decide if you are being facetious or truly don't know...

double jump = 2x jumps
wall jump = jump then dodge off a wall
dodge jump = dodge, then jump while in mid dodge for an extended dodge movement.
wall dodge jump = jump, go next to a wall, dodge them jump in mid dodge for an even further wall dodge jump, able to get to places like the LG from the bridge on campgrounds (or u can use the ledge and be a slow newbie while i plant an LG in your head).

There are plenty of servers, if you don't mind playing by yourself.

Very true, there are many empty servers.....
