UT2K4 System Questions

I currently have:

Athlon 1.2GHz 133MHz FSB
EpoX 8KHA+ (KT266A)
512MB PC2100 CAS2
GeForce2 Pro 64MB DDR
20GB Maxtor ATA100 7200RPM
Hercules Fortissimo III 7.1 Sound card
52x24x52 Mad Dog CDRW
48X Sony CDROM
Generic floppy

Now, I know I will need to upgrade my processor and video card. For the above components what would you of AT General Hardware suggest I upgrade. Let's work with a budget of $100 and then selling the components I no longer need on AT FS/T.

Price estimates for parts:

Athlon 1.2 - $24 shipped
8KHA+ - $25 shipped
GeForce2 Pro - $34 shipped

So overall let's look at a budget of $182. I would be buying all my upgrade components from the FS/T as well.

$65 for a 2500+ @ monarch computers
$50 for the best ti4200 you can get @ FS/FT

while its a very scalable game, depends on how ugly u can stand playin.

u need something like a 4200 to play at 1024x768 with half decent textures. 1gb ram for decent load times...u can actually stick with 2100, its not that slow. just get a stick of 3200 or whatever and run em at 2100 speed for now. they basically cost the same unless u can get some used 2100. frys combo m/b with whatever athlon xp cpu will do ok.

2500+ mobile $90
shuttle AN35 ultra $60
that leaves $30 for some more ram, more if you can get some other parts used.

I agree with that. OC it and you should be fine running 10x7 with medium settings. Dunno what kind of performance hit you'll take runng the cpu at 166+ with the ram at 133 or whatever it can reach...
