There's no mention of it on the EB poster in the store. Furthermore, how would you get the game for "free" (according to the poster) if you have to trade ut2k3 into EB w/another game to get $10 off. This deal is starting to stink, and it stems from EB doing a bait and switch.
EB's not doing a bait and switch. You start at $40, then -$20 for the EB rebate, -$10 for the Atari rebate, and another -$10 for the trade in; I fail to see the "switch" here, you're getting UT2K4 for free.

Bait and switch? Threads were talking about what a good deal the SE version is at $39.99 because it comes as a DVD with the mic'd headphones. Now that there is a $20 voucher offer the deal is that much better. If I can get this $10 Activision rebate, it is just icing on the cake. Nevermind the instore poster. It was always a YMMV. The EBgames online deal is concrete and you don't have to pay for it until it ships. No tax, free shipping. Sold.

There's a 10 online coupon you can use for this game which will bring this game down to better than free for UT2K3 owners... 🙂

39.99
-10.00 coupon
-20.00 EB MIR
-10.00 UT2K3 MIR
=-0.01

And if you can get that trade in... =-10.01

I'll take a look.

I called bait and switch because the advertisement makes no mention that the MIR from Atari requires you to prove that you own UT2k3. As I mentioned before, if you have to trade UT2k3 in to EB to get $10 off from them, you can't very well prove to Atari that you own the game. They are also advertising on the poster that the $20 you get from EB is a rebate when it's popularized to be a gift card. Until some concrete evidence shows up, I'm going to be skeptical.

Actually, that's not what you're proving to Atari. The deal is that you have to prove to Atari that you bought the game, which may or may not include ownership. Accepted proof includes receipts, the front page of the manual, or CD1. I believe you can trade in UT2K3 sans front manual page, in which case you're fine.

But I'm not fine because I don't own UT2k3! The offer is misleading because it makes no mention of the Atari rebate requiring proof that I bought 2k3!

Well why the hell are you buying UT2K4 if you never even played UT2K3? 😛

I did play UT2k3 and I didn't really like it. Onslaught, on the other hand, is the most fun I've had since Quake 3. 😀

so is there a certain protocol to this for people who ordered earlier and thought 40$ was a good deal? I bought mine online and if I print this out should i mention anything about the date/csr i (will) talk to?

yep, it's gone, even looking up the part number (239452) yields nothing. They must have ran out of it, at least for pre-orders, or simply decided they weren't selling enough ofthe regular edition, which is all they offer now (you can still get that for free: $20 EBgames rebate $10 Atari rebate (if you have UT2003 manual) and $10 Reservation Rewards coupon code, unless that one is dead)
