Thanks god for jpprod, it's tiring to hear all the dumb things like "FXTC can also be used in place of S3TC in openGL games" and "FXTC is used in DirectX as DXTC".

Did you uninstall UT before installing the 4.02 patch? From several posts, and also my own attempts, it appears as if you need to completely uninstall the game then install 4.00 and upgrade to 4.02. Also, what are your system specs and what driver revision are you running?

BenSkywalker,
Installed 4.00, patched it w/4.02, replaced OpenGLDrv.dll patch. My machine freezes when I try starting UT with that OpenGLDrv.dll. I replace it with the original and it runs fine. Anyway around this that you might know of?

I'm using the 6.18 unofficial reference drivers for my CL TNT2U under Win2K.

Does it matter if I use 1 or TRUE for UseST3C in the UT ini file? Do I need to add those bold lines you added in the fifth post to the UT ini file as well?

Yes, you need the bolded lines from above, and I'm using 1, though I haven't tried to use "True".

<< The G400 supports S3TC? Or are you running a different board?? I have the Detail Textures option under OpenGL, though I haven't paid attention to if it does anything though(set to True). Editing the Unral.ini file gives you the option. >>

I have GeForce in my work 'puter. Detail LOD textures is an option in OpenGl, but it's disabled. Very easy to check-run UT in D3D or Glide mode-approach a wall-it gets detailed once you get closer. Now if you run in OpenGl without compression, it is blurry.

Leon-

Jukka pointed that out to me over in the Video forum thread on this subject. I know what the detail textures setting does in D3D, but I never paid attention to in OpenGL(I could never get UT to run in OpenGL;)).

Anyone still having problems, I posted a walkthrough of process and the possible problems that I am currently aware of here. Have any Radeon users here done this yet and if so with what results? Any TNT/TNT2 users had success?
