Don't think this is a repost. Just came back form my local(San Antonio, TX) Electronics Boutique which had all copies of Unreal Tournament 2003 priced at $29.99. There was an in store flyer with a coupon for $10 instant rebate and $10 mail in gift voucher. Picked up one for myself and an extra for some lan gaming and maybe now I can get in on some of the games going on over in the distributed computing forum.

People sometimes are crazy in chasing the fastest video card. My GF3 and GeForce256 work good. Even my worker uses nVidia TNT2 16MB Vanta with a 800Mhz machine, UT2k3 plays just fine with 640x480 resolution (800x600 is also good, but some lags in outdoor area), of course don't turn on all the details which basically you don't really notice in such fast pacing game.

I would rather save the money on video card to get an xbox or ps2, until it is a must to have an upgrade.

Same here, GF2 GTS 32MB, Athlon 1800XP, @1024 x 768. Finished the "single-player" mode already. Played some multi-player, so far so good.

They had it here in Farmington, CT for $44.99, discouraged I decided to buy the pre-owned one for $34.99 (which rang up $24.99, $10 IR), my girlfriend saw the coupon for $10 IR and $10 MR, so I exchanged the pre-owned for the new. It ended up being $29.99 + tax, and the $10 MR made it $19.99+tax. Didn't get it as low as you for $9.99 though! On the coupon it says final price $19.99. They were by the register, don't be discouraged by the $44.99 price tag!

Time to play!

Thanks!!

Different strokes for different folks I guess. If you are used to playing games at 1280x960x32 with max everything on a large CRT or LCD, a GF2 running 800x600 or worse :Q with everything turned off is NOT fine...it looks like crap.

Just my .02 cents :D

How about 1024 by 768 with all details as high as they would go with a gf2-mx400 and an 800 Duron and 384 megs of sdram. I minght also add no lag.

Yeah, this game scales across the full spectrum of videocards (high end to low end) very nicely. I've been playing the demo since it came out on my GF4 Ti4200 and it runs beautifully. I've heard people running it on GF2's and 3's without any problems with nice frame rates. This game kicks serious ass. Lots of fun.

I've been waiting to pounce on the 1st good deal on the retail version. Anyone confirm this is a regional or nation-wide EB deal? I gotstagetit, especially @ this price :D

Seems nationwide, the flyer instore just says EBgames "Hot Holiday Offers"--no specific location. Give them a call and ask, they also have a $149.99 refurb Xbox with coupon..

I run @ 1600x1200 all cranked to the max. It looks pretty. But i've played UT to much in the past, and i see nothing new or interesting. Same old Shxt. hopping and camping.

I'm afraid that a great game, however cheap, will in the end cost me far more than the price of the game and hardware required to play it because of the loss of productivity. I "wasted" thousand + hours of my time playing online UT... the game is a drug =/

Heh I was playing this on my brand new box when the leaked full version was on IRC...I was playing bots (obviously no multi-player yet) and it kinda lagged at times with 3-4 bots around...was playing at 1024 too...i think all the stuff were on high though...

Specs:
XP 2000+
512MB PC2100
GF4 TI4200

I hope the final version is less laggy than the leaked version :D. I want to play this game too...kinda tired of CS. Oh well, I always have WC3 :D

i was playing the demo on my athlon 750 /192mb pc100/gf2mx400 system when it came out (new rig now...havent played again)

the ball game was fun, a little bit, but i wasnt impressed that the weapons werent really new, and the pre-exsisting ones had been altered to suckage, i will not look at a flak cannon the same way again *sigh*

The $10 UT2k3 rebate available online at EBgames expired 10/15/02, is there another one?

Agreed. I can't believe how they took one of the best weapon-loadouts in the industry and ruined it.

I don't really mind the flack cannon...i just don't like the sniper gun. getting more accustomed to the delayed reloading now though.
