USS Liberty survivors seek justice

I was about 13 yo at the time and remember that the official story was that it was just an accident - misidentification by the attackers. I accepted that story for decades as did most Americans.

Now 40 years later the survivors try to re-kindle interest in light of de-classified info of recent years.

Everyone should know the full details of this story. It may enrage you or not, you may not care.

But those killed and maimed deserve a hearing.

I hope they find justice, but I wouldn't count on it. Their group is no match for the power of the AIPAC.

As I said, I always believed the 'mistaken identity' version.

Until I heard Officer Ennis describe the event.

"The other side of the story" is pretty much a re-hash of old info, with a little new thrown in - testimony of the 15 kill 'ace' pilot for example.

But does not address why the attackers machine gunned and sank two life rafts, and towed away another. That's a war crime, regardless of reason for the initial attack.

Or why our gov't still ignores a legal obligation to answer survivors' law suit. ?

Its sad 🙁
I too hope that the survivors can find justice, even if it is a very small possibility.

so what did Isreal expect to gain by attacking the USS Liberty?

If there is a logical answer to this question, then it was deliberate. If not then it was an accident or overzealousness on the part of Isreal.

Personally, I think it was an attempt by Israel to see just how much control and influence they wield over Washington. Obviously, a lot. But there are probably less conspiracy theory oriented reasons out there.

Talk about a coverup. Ive never even heard of this. But after reading the entire "war crimes" report, I came to the conclusion that this would make a great movie based on the book.

However, since Jews permeate Hollywood and entertainment from top to bottom, I wonder if they would shun the movie since it would obviously portray Isreal in a bad light.

It was definately a miscarriage of justice, to say the least. :|

I think the official explanation makes a lot more sense. I'm sure the people who were on the ship being attacked feel like it was more than just a mistake, but honestly it makes so much more sense for it just to have been a misidentification and lack of communication.

Of course, people will always have their reasons to hate Israel, and the conspiracies of the powerful Jews controlling our minds will continue.

EDIT: Not claiming that the veterans are those people, just some people who have posted here.

Oh man... I didn't even want to be reminded of this again.

No one here in this thread/forum knows the true story but the general facts make the official story seem absolutely crazy.

THat's all I'm going to say...

Israel has been caught many times conducting attacks that they try to blame on Arabs, such as the Lavon affair, and the 9/11 attack!

Amazing, isn't it?

Oh, NOW you've done it... Just wait for the attacks, you know they're gonna come. 😉

confirmed by the president of iran!

so, either 9-11 was a conspiracy by our own government or it was a conspiracy by the isrealites depending one which conspiracy theorists you belief.

ya, that's the ticket.

That's just it. It never made sense to be a deliberate attack.

Until recently. More info has been de-classified. Author James Bamford writes in 'Body of Secrets' that Liberty chanced to be in an area near where a large number of Egyptians had been taken prisoner and dealt with in a brutal way. The Liberty attackers did not want her crew as surviving witnesses to the event.

If that is true, then the attack makes sense as deliberate. Also the fact that if made to look as an Egyptian attack on a US ship then the USA would take sides against Egypt in the 6 Day War.

Commander Ennis talks about these possible motives for a deliberate attack in that mp3 interview i linked to in original post.

Given that Nasser was still running Egypt then and was pretty cozy with the USSR I don't think Israel was all that concerned about us taking Egypts side in anything at that time.

..or just assume everything that happens in the world is righteous and as it seems, also never be as foolish enough to think that politicians would ever lie to us or warp stories in their favor, and finally you should NEVER question authority since the ones with power would have no problem giving us peons the whole undistorted truth with no ulterior motives whatsoever... gosh I wish I lived in your perfect little world 0roo0roo.
