priority has always come with the other mail for me.

I asked several postal workers and all quoted about the same 2-3 days for 80% of the packages figure. I've had some take 3 weeks and some go from TN to CA in 2 days. If its important use Fedex.

9 times out of 10 it'll make it there in 2-3 days. One time I needed a package to get there in 3 days but it took a week and it really screwed me up.

It's not gauarnteed 2-3 days, just average delivery time is 2-3 days.

Always been 2-3 days.. though the last package I got shipped to me via Priority arrived in 1 day.. Ohio to California.

In most cases Priority will be there in 2-3 days anywhere in the Continental US.
A lot depends on the volume of mail the Postal service is handling at the time, such as 1st. of the month for flyers and especially Christmas!
I once had a package take 12 days to get 2 states over during the Christmas rush.
Postal employees tell me to just imagine 2 boxes, one with 1st. Class, one with Priority. 1st. Class box gets loaded when it's full, even if it takes a few days.
Priority box gets loaded daily, no matter what.
It is all handled the same, such is the reason 1st. Class sometimes is as fast as Priority.
Only Express Mail gets full "Special" treatment, it goes VIA special carriers, IIRC.

Apply extremes to the above scenarios for Parcel Post & quadruply so for Media Mail (Media Mail should be outlawed, IMO)

I wonder if there is anything "special" about sending something certified?

I've sent numerous letters certified. One instance I had a letter make it to Colorado (from Maryland) in two days. Just a regular letter, with a .39 cent stamp, but with the additional certified fees. Still cheaper than Priority also.

Well a friend of mine says priority mail comes with a different carrier than his regular mail. He orders on ebay alot and he says everything priority comes around 3-5pm and his normal mail comes from 10-11am.
He swears up and down that priority mail comes at a later time.

It takes that amount of time if they cannot guarantee it (live in the middle of no where). They will tell you this at the counter when you pay.

Actually, if it is guaranteed, then they will go out of their way to deliver. It has happened to me before.

I gues sit depends where you live....because that is how it happens in Boston. You get regular mail at your normal time and you get anything that is Proirity or Express between 11 and 5.

He's probably right. Especially in large areas. Even around here there is a separate carrier that handles Express Mail / Priority Mail and another one that does the regular stuff. Also if they are large packages you can expect them to be delivered separately.

i won (buy it now) a treo 700p last thursday and the guy made a shipping label at around 1:30AM friday morning. i chose 2-3 day priority mail and i still havent gotten it...i have no idea if he shipped it yet or not. should i give usps the benefit of the doubt and wait until friday to see if it comes?

btw, he's shipping from nashville, TN and im in oak brook, IL (suburb of chicago).

btw again...the tracking for usps sucks/aka its not really tracking its just delivery confirmation.
