I bought a dreamcast and some games from a dude in Cali. He shipped me the package and gave me a tracking number. The package was scanned when it was received so it left Cali on the 28th....well....it didn't arrive in TN until the 10th. Not a big deal for Ground Shipping... HOWEVER, it said it was RECEIVED. My mailman hasn't seen it....my post office was searching for it and couldn't find it. I checked the mail receipt on the website and it said it was sent to a different zip code that's in my area. The original shipping bill is for MY zipcode, not someone elses. This is 2 days later and it still hasn't shown up. I am never going to ship another package via the USPS without insurance just because they can't get their SH!T together. I definitely am glad that the guy shipped with insurance, but it bothers me that there is no one to call that can tell me anything. They only scan a package twice....so I'm shipping FedEx or UPS from here on out. They know how to ship and have more than just an automated number to call when you need help because of their mistakes. :|

Nah, I think it's actually decent. I've shipped over 1000 packages in the last 9 months or so and have never had one lost or damaged.

I think their letters are fine. But I've had them lose 5 packages in the last 4 years. I don't do excessive shipping. I had a harddrive shipped once that was lost in the mail.....$100 down the drain. I lost a check just recently that I mailed someone...never showed up and hasn't been cashed....and now the ultimate thing to lose.......A DREAMCAST. It just angers me that they can put "received" on it, but I never got it. Also, like I said, it wasn't even received in MY zip code....and it certainly wasn't the zip it was even sent to. They just need to improve their systems or quit accepting packages. I mean, if they lost a letter, it'd be one thing. To lose a LARGE box is another problem that is unexcusable in my mind....especially since I'm a consumer and expect the money I pay the messangers to actually transport the package to me.

USPS has been in my experience far more reliable and easy to work with than UPS. I don't ship too much with fedex, so I can't comment there.

I for one, avoid UPS whenever possible. They purposely treat packages badly, it's like ingrained in their corporate culture. I have a few friends in college who work there part time, and every single one says the management are such a-holes and push so hard they end up not caring about the packages, and quite a lot of the time purposely trying to break things. UPS scanning is also fairly error-prone, the same underpaid-overworked package handlers are responsible for scanning your package in when it gets on the truck. The guys I talk to say they scan maybe half, if they are having a good day.

I had my first one lost the other day. Been over a month now going to MN. It's gone. Had to refund the guy's money.:(

So you ship 4 packages a day for 9 months straight? (rolls eyes) ;)
