The iPhone app was denied entry to the iTunes App store, likely by pressure from SiriusXM. Something deeper must be going on though as they have decided to fold the entire project, including the Mac and Windows Mobile applications. Since the apps connect directly through Nicemac, they will be shutting off the servers tomorrow March 10th.

Originally some thought the apps were purchased by SiriusXM, but judging by the latest comments on Nicemac's twitter feed, they said they are canceling their subscriptions tomorrow. I would assume SiriusXM threatened legal action, or something along those lines.

Other rumors have popped up that SiriusXM is working on their own app, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

The default SiriusXM web interface sucks, which only leaves us with Rogue Amoeba's Pulsar, but its $15 and who knows how long that one be around if SiriusXM did indeed threaten legal action.

Truly a say day 🙁

Too bad. I can't say I'm entirely surprised - I myself had thought I might move my Sirius subscription to online-only once this came out, since I could easily plug my iPhone into my car's auxiliary port and use it instead of my Sirius radio. Oh well . . .

I always figured that SiriusXM was developing the app in house. Never really read up that much on it though. That's unfortunate. However, SiriusXM is primarily a satellite radio company, not an online radio company.
