Using Windows XP and a GTX 560 does it work?

Trying to upgrade from an 8800GT, and I thought about getting Windows 7 but I might hold off until Windows 8. All I really play is World of Warcraft or The Witcher.

Will the performance of the GTX 560 outperform the 8800GT while still using an old OS like Windows XP SP2?

Of course it will. I'm using 2 GTX 460 1GB in SLI using Windows XP Pro. It's just that you will be stuck using DirectX 9.

If your CPU is capable of supporting the new card of course you'll see an improvement. I use XP with a GTX 460 1GB and saw a marked improvement over the 8800 GTX it replaced in my games (which are almost all DX9 RPGs and MMOs). One question - why haven't you installed SP3?

upgrade to xp SP3 first
and you can look for gigabyte GTX 560 Ti SOC~😎
you have no idea what the rest of his pc looks like.

and looking at his other posts, he may not ever even come back to this thread.

My brother has been stubborn about switching to Win 7, Currently has both Win XP 32bit & Win 7 64bit installed (dual boot) and swears XP runs games a little better than 7 (shrug) his PC is AMD X2 4800+ (dual core) / 2gb ram / GTX 260.

Personally Im glad I switched to 7 it runs great and is a lot more secure than XP.
