Also if u see something wrong with my list, maybe something wont work together, Please Tell Me! Thx !!

Everything should work with Windows 98, but it being 2005, with two superior operating sytems available (Windows XP or Windows 2000), there would be no way I would install Windows 98.

Doesn't Win98 have some issue (i.e. - it won't work! :) )when it's run on a system at 2.0GHz or more? IIRC, you have to replace "ndis.dll" or something like that. Perhaps a forum search or a Google search might yield some usable results.

Then downsize your setup to include XP (at least the Home version for <$89) in the budget. Otherwise your "new" system will start frustrating you to no end. Yes, it will "work", (although I'm not sure 98 will properly recognize the CPU), but with all the inherent problems of Win98 vs XP's "releatively" few hassles, it doesn't even qualify as a no brainer because there should be no choice. Actually a better idea would be to go for the XP Pro version and you can get XP 64 bit version as a free exchange for it. But you only have until July 31st.

Win98 won't be able to use any memory >>512 MB, unless you do some registry editing. Also, certain USB 2.0 devices may only work in USB 1.0 mode.
I think MS has a downloadable "180 day-free trial" version of XP64.
Or, an OEM system builder may be able to give you an official MS "90 day-free trial" CD of WinXP.

I jsut insttalled 98 on the macine in my sig for shits and giggles yesterday. After isntalling all the drivers from nvidia.com, it worked wicked fast.

P.S. This was Windows 98 SE, not the crappy first version.

Forget using Win98, pick up WindowsME.

J/k. I'm with hatim, dl the trial of Win XP64, save some money and pick up WinXP Pro before July 31 and get the free trade in for WinXP 64.

Oh noes don't put on 98.

X64 is not likely ever going to be worth the hassle of running; i'd just get XP now & then go 64-bit when Longhorn arrives.
