using webspace

I have managed to get an ftp programme working, I can download from people who have been kind enough to assist me in my quest. I have webspace with btinternet.com and have tried uplaoding several times to it. My problem is it will only allow me to upload certain types of file, maybe I have set something wrong, I just don't know. Some files go straight onto the website and I can view them immediately, but others such as jpeg files and say, mp3 files leave me with a "you do not have permission" to upload this file.
Anyone shed some light on this matter for me please.

It is possible that your host does not allow those types of files on the server (don't know why they wouldn't allow .jpeg, but mp3 for obvious reasons). Your best bet is to contact your host and ask them.
