Examples:

"Can someone please fix this?"
"Please remove...."
"I would like...please."

I think the first one sounds a bit hostile to me as if they're a bit frustrated and need it done right now. The way the other two places the please, it sounds more polite in asking. I don't know. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it. What do you guys think?

Depends on context of course, but more often then not it's used out of politeness IMHO.

The tone could suggest some passive-aggressive meaning, but more often than not it's common courtesy.

'Please' is can be easily confused. You should be using a safety word like 'banana'.

How to use the word "please":

The Wolf: Jimmie, lead the way. Boys, get to work.

Vincent: A please would be nice.

The Wolf: Come again?

Vincent: I said a please would be nice.

The Wolf: Get it straight buster - I'm not here to say please, I'm here to tell you what to do and if self-preservation is an instinct you possess you'd better fu**ing do it and do it quick. I'm here to help - if my help's not appreciated then lotsa luck, gentlemen.

Jules: No, Mr. Wolf, it ain't like that, your help is definitely appreciated.

Vincent: I don't mean any disrespect, I just don't like people barking orders at me.

The Wolf: If I'm curt with you it's because time is a factor. I think fast, I talk fast and I need you guys to act fast if you wanna get out of this. So, pretty please... with sugar on top. Clean the fu**ing car.

When the email clearly shows annoyance and condescension already, a "please" just adds to the attitude. Otherwise it is polite.

Example 1: Your system is down AGAIN. Please fix ASAP because I need an urgent document for this afternoon.
Example 2: I think the system might be down. Could you please take a look?
