Using rebate visa gift cards

Will cashiers let you use one for partial payment? Like if i have a $50 visa gift card and go buy $100 worth of stuff, if i hand them the gift card will it just take $50 off and i can pay for the rest in cash/check/debit/credit or will it say insufficient funds?

You say you want to pay $50 with your debt card (ie, the visa gift card) and you just pay the rest...

I've done the same with store gift cards so I don't see why not. Just tell the cashier you'd like to put $50 on the gift card and the rest on debit/credit.

I've even been in stores that have the option to do a partial payment from the touch screen card scanner.

shouldn't be a problem in any B&M store.

gets a little tricky when trying to buy stuff online (what I ended up having to do with mine from christmas is use them to buy gift certificates)
