Using power tools before 8am

Kadarin

Lifer
So my lovely neighbor has decided to work on his pool this morning, firing up power tools before 8am. What's a good response?

I file it away, and ignore it. Use it later as a get out of jail free card when you want to do something irritating.

This is probably the right answer, but I love the other suggestions so far 🙂

Talking with this guy reasonably probably won't work. It's a Mexican family of hoarders whose backyard and driveway are filled with junk.

Get gussied up, grab a holy scripture, and go save that mo'fo'.

I've started working on a hotel. They've demoed part of it, and are gonna build onto the skeleton. I was looking at the plans when one of the locals walks up, and starts talking to me...

weirdo: Tearing it down? I just put that there!
me: um... blinks...
weirdo: Well, Jesus something something Jesus; walks off
me: um... blinks... (was that really necessary?!)

Best way to get rid of people is to tilt your head and stare at their forehead while they're talking.

Easy.

Fire up a snow blower, a jack hammer, a bbq with fish, rave lights, smoke machine and have about 50 already drunk College kids come over with fire works at 6 am. When he complains, responded with qué? ¿lo que hago? oh, and dynamite.

Could be against the local bylaws. I know where I am you're not supposed to opperate loud machinery in a residential before 7am on weekdays and 9am on weekends.

I'd probably be annoyed but wouldn't do anything if it were a one off event. 8am isn't completely unreasonable. I have had the mall across the road from me written up a few times because they insisted on doing parking lot maintenance at 2am. They finally got the message.

Call 9-1-1. Report "shots fired" at that address. Tell them that a pick-up full of of suspicious looking people pulled up and opened fire at the house...then drove away.

Try it...what's the worst that can happen?

😛

First world problems. A little before 8am doesn't seem too unreasonable.

Trump soundbites on a loudspeaker?

You forget about all that dust that will kick up.

Also, since his neighbor is improving his property, the value will go up, pricing people out.

:*-(

Oh the humanity!!!shift+1!!!

No problem with him fixing or cleaning stuff up, but I do have a problem with him waking me up to do it.

Just be happy you got a hard working family living next door. They could be losers that don't have to get up for work, waking you up at 2am constantly. I'm sure that'd be much worse than an odd occurrence here and there.

If you want to get work done you start early especially in the summer, 8AM is not all early and in fact that is probably about 2 hours late if want to work on a serious project.

If it's not a regular thing, and he just had a project to do, I'd be inclined to let it pass. Good relations with neighbors are important. If it became a regular thing I would have a talk with the guy about weekends and how important peace and quiet can be. If he ignored that, then I would wire up some loudspeakers and let him have some Led Zep at 2 AM.

I will let it pass. But it's worth noting that now at 10:30, no power tools for the last hour.

Ok, I'll quit whining and all y'all can get back to your regularly scheduled programming. 🙂

Head over and knock or spot the guy working.

"Hey Buddy! (happy excited not saracstic), sup with the power tools so early?"

If guy is cool and he figures out pre 8am on weekend is nonsense, then maybe give him a hand when he starts at 10am or so later.

In my experience with neighbors who play music way too loud and way to late after (10am all the way through 2am sometimes on weekdays) I typically am super cool and say "Hey, it's late, that's really loud, can you turn down or off please".

I usually get the,

"Yea, sure, sorry"

And then their BS behavior and music continues.

try having a dog barking at 7am neighbor every damn day, weekends included. You'd think talking to them would work... but a-holes.
