All right, new plan. 😀 I'm replacing a receiver / VCR / DVD player with a small form factor PC - basically building a home theater PC. Obviously I want to enjoy surround sound while watching movies on that system. But I'd also like to enjoy surround sound from my gaming system.
I don't want to buy two sets of CL Megaworks to do it. My original plan to have all the audio from my gaming PC pumped into the small HTPC and through an M-Audio card is unworkable - no SPDIF ports on either system. Somehow I need to get these two computers to use the same speakers.
So it hit me - why can't I use signal splitters? Why not plug Y splitters into all the ports on the powered subwoofer of the Megaworks, and just plug both systems in that way?

I did a quick mock-up using a pic from Newegg. (Edit: I just realized thought should be female ports at the ends of those Y-splitters - but you get the idea 😀 )
Problem is, I don't know enough about computer speakers to know if ths will work. But frankly I don't see why it wouldn't work. Thoughts?
