Do you think this kind of conduct from law enforcement is really apropriate? I sure as hell don't. Come on a 12 year old girl? If I was a police officer doing something like that wouldn't even have crossed my mind....you
know? Who the helll would be thinking..."oh man there's a kid running from me, better pull out the taser". I mean wtf.:disgust:

In the situation with the 6 year old, no. In the situation with the 12 year old, yes.
 
I wouldn't consider a 12 year old a kid, although in both of those situations I think the officer was out of line although I wasn't there so I don't really know. I certainly could imagine that there could be a situation where it would be acceptable to tazer an adolescent.

The 12 year old was about to run into heavy traffic. The police officer subdued her with the taser before she got herself and the police officer chasing after her seriously injured.
 
Fully support it in both cases. I particularly support it in the case of the 6 year old, I would much sooner they taser the kid than have an officer so much as scratched.

Serves the little bastards right.

It's too bad Tasers only get negative attention by the media. These are two cases where i don't feel it was necessary. But it's easy to judge an officer if you haven't been in his/her position.

BTW, I would not support the use of non lethal projectile weapons on children. They're deadly enough on adults.

IMHO things fired out of a real gun should be reserved for situations in which you intend to kill. I understand the need to have the same weapon function as lethal or non lethal, but even if it's made out of rubber & driven by a reduced powder charge a bullet still packs a sh!tload of energy. Poor aim, an unexpected move, it doesn't take much to turn non lethal projectiles into fully lethal ones.

i agree with the officers' actions. they didnt harm the children....rather they kept them from harm's way

Just the fact that a 6 year old and a 12 year old are in situations where the police are involved is ridiculous.

They got what they deserved. They should be home playing video games like i was at 6 or out playing handball like when i was 12.

Granted the 6 year old has some mental problems, but its better he get zapped then severly hurt or kill himself.
 
dunno about you, but if a 12 year old charges at me with a weapon in their hand, i am gonna protect myself with whatever means necessary.

I am not sure if the above two incidents calls for the taser, but if needed, the police should whip it out.

Hey, who pissed in your cornflakes? The post is title about non-lethal weapons. Even if it wasn't, is there some reason I can't make an observation to the effect that if one non-lethal weapon can occasionally be lethal, maybe others can as well.
