I would like to use a D-Link DI-713P Router with a Net Gear RP114 Router. The Net Gear RP114 will be accessing WAN/internet and D-Link DI-713P will be essentially a switch, wireless access point and print server. Since they both have same LAN IP, I plan to reassign D-Link router IP to 192.168.55.1 and disable DHCP.

I prefer to use Net Gear to access internet since it has "keyword blocking" feature to deter my kid's friends from accessing certain sites inappropriate for kids. Will connect D-Link WAN port using a straight patch cable into a LAN port on the Net Gear. Not sure what to set the WAN Type on the D-link since it is being used as an Uplink port. The choices are 1.) Static IP 2.) Dynamic IP Address 3.) PPP over Ethernet and 4.) Dial-up Network. I am not sure any of these are good choices based on what I am trying to do. Has anyone tried this and do they know if it will work?

I haven't tried it, but I'd suspect Static IP would be the choice you want. Then set the static IP to that 192.168.55.1 that you would like it to be. I think it should work OK for you then.

Good luck.
