Using my own proxy server @ school, something's weird, it STILL checks their server before checking MY proxy

Okay, so i loaded up my proxy into Opera at my school (the options in Internet Explorer are disabled ) Whenever i try loading up a blocked site, such as firingsquad, the status bar will tell me that it's checking the St. Bernard filter thing, BEFORE it checks my proxy. How could it still be doing this? I thought it should go directly through my own proxy, negating the filter. What can i do?

Your proxy still has to get the page from somewhere and is going to check the schools proxy server. You'll need to get your own internet connection if you don't want to be filtered.

Yeah, when you make a request to your proxy, your proxy will then make a request to the school's
proxy. You cannot bypass the school's proxy by running your own.
