Using my computer as a DVR...sorta

I want to use my PC, in conjunction with gaming/schoolwork, as a DVR.

I want to record the picture/audio on my computer, and then either have the option to burn it on a DVD or to play it on my TV.

I thought you could just do it with a TV tuner and soundcard hooked up to the Directv reciever, and then just run another cable to the sound reciever/tv from my video card/sound card, but I have no idea how to do this.

Any help would be nice!

(BTW, i dont have a sound reciever yet, but i'm looking into some of the Onkyo HTIB systems, as i'm also looking into the SB Audigy ZS 2)

Hope this all makes sense....

1. Windows Media Centre 2005 (or BeyondTV, one of the others etc)
2. Decent Hauppauge hardware MPEG-2 capture card.
3. Scart -> SVideo* or Composite adaptor cable thing
4. Teh win.

* If you can do Scart -> SVideo, that is. Much better quality than Composite, but not as good as Component.
