Using multi function printer connected to a server

I have a dell server running windows server 2003 at home. I have a canon mp830 mf device through the usb.

I can share the printer through the whole house, but how can I use the scanner on the device to scan to a computer on the network? laptop for example?

It will depend on the software and drivers included with or from the manuafacturer. If the drivers can forward the information from the machine to server and then to your client, it will all be configured in the driver/software side.
