Hey all,

Im using a mic for counterstrike, and i have to go and unmute my mic so i can use it in game... problem is, ill get massive feedback and then i have to use headphones to use my mic.

Is there a way that i can use my mic AND my speakers at the same time?

Easy fix here; buy a combination headset/mic, like you'd use with a phone. You're getting feedback b/c your microphone is picking up the sound from your speakers. A headset mic won't have this problem.

Do you have a directional mic? (One that will only pick up sounds from a certain direction). That could help stop speaker noise getting into the mic and giving feedback.

i wasnt sure on software or hardware.... i mean its kind of a combination of both.

Anyway, i know why its getting feedback, that part isnt hard. I am a musician :)

Im just wondering if there is a way to make it that so what i say in my mic isnt put out through my speakers.

Turn the Mic down and turn off the +20db boost in the Volume Properties and keep it further away from the Speakers or find a balance between the 2

I know that for me, I have to turn my mic up all the way along with the 20db boost for anyone to hear my clearly in CS. I just have my speakers at least 2 feet away from my mic... easy for me since I use a headset. =P

Click through to Control Panel --> Volume Control and click the "Mute" button on the Microphone on the Playback page. No, this doesn't mean that no one can hear you ... it's like turning off the monitors during a concert. The mic still picks up the sound, but doesn't play it back.
