I've finally found a pretty good deal on an external USB hard drive with 3 year warranty. (it needs no power, other than the USB)

My system has a pci card with an internal USB hookup, so I found myself wondering if I could just stick the drive in my case, hook it up to the USB, and use it as an internal primary hard drive that way, without voiding the drive's warranty.

Has anyone else ever done this? It would be for a games pc for my kids, and they tend to play older games and casual games.

Should work well... get some double-sided tape or Velcro. I would try to position it where there would be a little breeze across it, but I don't see any other problems with it.

Oddly enough, just last night I was looking at USB3.0 expansion cards and was surprised to see them with USB plugs... for the inside of the case! But I guess it makes sense in some instances...
