Using Cellphone as Modem for PDA?

I have a Cingular Wireless Sony Ericsson T637 and a Dell Axim X3, both have Bluetooth. Can I use my T637 as a modem for my X3, via Bluetooth? I briefly searched the web and Howardforum.com but couldn't find much.

Any info is much appreciated.

Yep. Haven't tried it with those devices in particular, but I've used a Nokia 3650 with a Palm Tungsten T. Basically, you set up GPRS capabilities on your phone (after signing up for the option with your service provider), establish a Bluetooth connection between the phone and PDA, then you open up your web browser/email program/whatever on the PDA, and it should know how to make the phone connect to the GPRS network and give you an Internet connection.

Of course, the speed is pretty crappy unless you live in an area with very good GRPS coverage (I do not, so I gave up on this). You can do the same thing for a laptop that has Bluetooth (or if you have an interface cable for your phone that you can plug into the laptop). This would probably be more functional, since web browsing on a PDA can be painful.

I don't know about Cingular, but Sprint PCS has always had a very good WAN package to connect to a PDA or a laptop. I use it all the time when I travel, and it is faster than dialup by about 2X.

Cingular has WAN offerings too via their EDGE network. SO far, I've seen only PC Cards being offered but I guess if your cellphone has EDGE, you can also make it as a modem via that connection.
