That's what I do.
I have a reloadable Wal-Mart gift card. I use my AB cash rebate card to reload it and get 5% cashback each time. I then use said gift card at Sam's Club.

Nice, personal attacks. Pretty sure I got a weeklong vacation for those. Are you special? I guess since you started it I can point out you are a raging lovely human.

1) My middle FICO is 762. Probably higher than yours.
2) I won't presume to know how much you make, but I get along just fine with my salary and even I wouldn't go around calling people using alternative methods of purchase poor. I work (unprofessionally) with many people in low-income situations in the form of community outreach and participate/volunteer anywhere from 15-25 hours a week helping disabled do various tasks from shopping to just plain running errands. I'm going to venture to guess you don't know a lot of vets, but some of them suffer from extreme mental conditions and many of the ones I know are so convinced that the government is out to get them they will often go through unorthodox methods of attempting to safeguard their purchases from potential scrutiny through purchasing with debit cards such as GreenDot as they feel it gives them a degree of anonymity.
3) It looks like the post in question by QueBert was edited, but I thought I remembered it specifically referencing the GreenDot cards and I associated two and two together with the $10 purchase fee of the card. If that is wrong then I made a mistake and I'll rightly admit that and apologize for my error, but I'm pretty sure GreenDot was mentioned.

You wanna know why? Costco doesn't accept any credit card other than AMEX. Greendot only have Visa and MasterCard.

Back when Sam's Club quit accepting all charge cards except Discover, they actually recommended the tactic of charging gift cards at Wal-Mart for use at Sam's Club.
