Using a wireless card or Ethernet connection?

Is using a wireless card just as stable for gaming as using a wired connection?

I am upgrading to Fiber optical internet now that it is available on my street and I wondered if I should use the old wireless card from my old PC or if I should use a wired connection for gaming.

I like single questions - keeps things short and sweet without a lot of bloviating. LOL

I too prefer hard wire when available. Faster and more reliable and secure.

They are not separate posts. They are called threads and the individual answers or reply's within it are called posts. It is the most efficent way to separate topics instead of having big long messy threads. That way when People do a search for a similar question they can find it instead of searching a topic and finding the answer "if your lucky" within a totally off topic thread from what your question is regarding.

Hard wire is always preferable. I have sort of a hybrid setup, I have my PC's hard-wired to a gigabit switch, and then that is connected to a router, running WDS, which is connected wirelessly to my other router, running WDS, which then connects to my internet.

It gives the benefits of a wired connection for most things, including LAN gaming, but still has some of the disadvantages of wireless, like increased ping. I do have one PC wired to the internet, I get 30/25. The other computers running on the WDS, have 30/18. Not sure why it only seems to affect the upload speeds.

Anyways, running two routers in WDS, is basically as stable as wired, in most cases. Far more stable than running a wireless USB or PCI adaptor in each computer.
