Using a server with Unix

I am getting a DNS, WEB, and Email server in one machine. Is Unix the best NOS for doing this and if not what is better? I have never used Unix before so what advice can you give me about using it.
 
1. don't cross post in multiple forums.
2. if you are not familiar with linux i'd recommend checking the many HOWTO's online and picking up a linux bible from the local bookstore

If you've never used *nix before then it's probably not going to be best for you initially if you're already familiar with the Windows environment. Learning *nix from scratch can take some time, and you're probably best off starting out with a play server to learn some of the quirks of *nux. Now setting up the *nix server will probably be free or close to, while setting up a Windows server to do what you mentioned will be fairly expensive.

I was in a similar situation as you and built a Slackware box for our intranet at work. It's been absolutely rock solid, although i'm still learning a lot of new quirks with Linux. Definitely worth the time investment if you can swing it.
