Using a network port to display data on USB drive as if it were a shared folder?

Can I make an X GB USB thumb drive appear as a shared folder or something similar when connected directly to a network port?

This means it would be an adapter from USB to network, and at the same time, make the USB drive appear as if it was a shared folder.

That would work, but it's really expensive, was hoping for something cheaper. I only need to connect 1-2 USB thumb drives.
