Using a CRT monitor as your primary on a laptop?

This question is actually regarding a friend of mines laptop.

He wants to use a 19" CRT as his primary display, but can only get it to extend to the monitor, not work as the primary. I tried a few things over remote assistance but couldn't get it to work as the primary monitor. Is there anyway to use the CRT as the primary display for his laptop, or does he have to use the main LCD screen on the laptop?

Thanks in advance.

I just turn the LCD on the laptop off and use the CRT. Picture is so much better and it is more like using a desktop which is really nice. I do leave the screen open though to vent heat off.

He just needs to make some adjustments in display settings, it isn't too bad. Just browse through the settings. It was very easy with my Radeon mobile graphics cards driver program thing.

Is there an actual physical button on the laptop to turn the LCD off? I really have no experience with laptops.

He has a geforce 4 mx btw.

His laptop has a geforce 4 mx in it??

There isn't a physical button, it is just a setting in the display properties. Probably under "display adapters" or some advanced settings
