i am having trouble loading up win. 95 on a computer. i have win 98 running fine on another one. I was wondering if I could use the win 98 startup disk to start up the troubled win 95 computer. Thanks.

so then your using the win95 floppys to install the OS ? thought the first floppy would boot you to a:
you can just use the win98 to boot to the a: then run the setup exe. from the floppys.
or is that what you tryed and it still not installing . ???
good luck

No, you don't have to have a CD drive unless you plan on reinstalling Win95 or Win98 from a CD..Then you will have a problem. If you just want to get it booted up and run some diagnostics(like scandisk, etc), you will be fine. If your Win95 is on floppies, then doing what chuck340 said will work.

i dont have any win 95 floppies. i got the computer like it is without any software. so can i still use win98 startup even though i dont have any win95 startup floppies.

No problem. The 98 disk has cdrom drivers.

i think were getting closer to the problem...

I figure unless there is something important he really needs on that Win95 box, I'd just wipe it and start over with something a little better..No sense beating it to the ground just to get 95 rolling.

Now what is it you are exactly trying to do here...Do you just want to get this machine to boot up, or are you wanting to install Win95 on it. Please be a little more clear in your post. Your original question has been answered a few times now. BTW, why would your school actually "want" Win95 over 98? That makes absolutely no sense to me...

Hey Chuck340..Looks like we get to stretch the thread out a little more

hey jackal. please in great and excrutiating detail explain exactly what you need and want to do.
