As long as the timings are the same, you're good to go (I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong).

not 100% sure on this one but i think if you have two different brands of ram...it will not allow you to run dual channel

I'm not into games, but I've been led to believe that dual channel helps game guys not Photoshop guys -- is this the consensus of opinion??

i looked this up and as long as the timings match up with your current patriot memory then it should work.... but there is a chance that it just might not work (if that makes any sense)

Went ahead and bought another pair of Patriot ram from Ebay, so I won't have to worry about it. Thanks guys.

I want to add another 2GB (2x1GB sticks) to my setup. Could I add the following and not have any issues?

I have an Opteron 165 that I overclock to around 2.5ghz, but nothing too aggressive, would this still be possible? Will I still be able to run in dual channel mode?

You should be ok. Mixing ram is a very old trick. It will work, but the timings will be set to the hightest common denominator; so don't expect the best performance.

Anyone?

Just be sure 1 stick of brand A and one stick of brand X are on the same channel.

Correct Way:
Channel 1: Brand A + Brand X
Channel 2: Brand A + Brand X

Incorrect way:
Channel 1: Brand A + Brand A
Channel 2: Brand X + Brand X
